Jeff and I have been discussing this possible reunion. If we have our rig by then, we might manage to come out wherever the group is. We are very ready to hit the road again as soon as Jeff's last surgery is complete (and hopefully his hand is much better!) and our son's wedding is over and we find a rig!

Hi Classmates!

I am glad to hear that the Hams are getting back on the road. Hurrah for modern medicine!

Keith and Gail have not disappeared completely.... after leaving Dollywood and hot Tennessee, we visited family in Ohio and Indiana. Now we are on a loop around Lake Michigan. Neither of us had ever been in the U.P., so we are enjoying the north woods. We have had some "shirt-sleeve" weather. We enjoyed Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, the National Cherry Festival in Traverse City, the Chapter 6 Rally along the Huron Shore, Mackinac Island and now Sault Ste. Marie. Beautiful watering holes. Soon we will set up in a remote NFS camp along the Superior shore, but not today. It wouldn't be fun in the the 50s and rain. Casinos are very convenient stopping spots up here.

We will be in Arkansas in October for a NOMADS project and at Port Isabel TX in December for another project. Looking forward to the Valley again. There are plans for a 2007 class reunion in the Valley in April which includes all SKPs. May still be there, though it sounds like way too long in one place.

Drive safe out there.

Hey Gail and Keith,

Nice to hear from you guys, if y’all stick around Mackinaw City until Labor Day (September 7th) you can walk the Mackinac Bridge with me. I’ll be staying at the Wilderness State Park just a little southwest of the bridge. I’ll be headed south too shortly after that and eventually to Death Valley in November and Quartzsite in January. Maybe we can hookup somewhere along the way. Take care for now…………………

Hey Gail n Keith,

We'll be in Mission from around Nov 1 to sometime in March so hope to see you over in the Port Isabel area after you arrive. Keep us posted.

We're currently spending the summer months along the Oregon coast in Port Orford. Daily temperatures in the mid-60's are hard to beat!!

Everyone stay safe out there!

Hey Vern and Sue,

Attached is an old post from when you two stayed in Mississippi for a while. Did you like one of these campgrounds over the other? We are in Miami headed to Ms to meet and feed our oldest kiddo for the weekend. He is up in Cleveland, Ms about two hours north of Jackson, so this reservoir would be a great meeting place for us. After two months in Miami.....its been fun but we are ready to head north.

After Mississippi we are on to Tyler, Tx for a week at a spine specialist for John, with a two day trip to Galveston, Tx to hold the newest baby boy born to my niece last week and delivery of a baby quilt I made for him. Then the month of August we are looking for a cool spot before volunteering in New Mexico at Bosque NWR the months of Sept, Oct and Nov. We may hang out in Q in December.....just dont know....plans still jello during Dec-Jan..... :P

We are still in Mississippi!! We are just on the outskirts of Jackson, on the shores of the Ross Barnett Reservoir. Goshen Shores is the campground we are currently at this week, we plan to move to the south side of the reservoir next week to Timberlake Campground. Both of these campgrounds are managed by Pearl River Valley Water Supply District. Big, double wide cement pads, huge lots, maybe 75' wide, cheap rates, $13 a day for seniors, lots of wildlife and birds. Most people here have a boat of some kind, must be good fishing. A bass tournament is underway now. Pleasantly surprised about Mississippi. We will be making our way slowly to the RGV later this month.

Hi John and Diana,

We do remember those campgrounds in Mississippi. They were both nice, Timberlake had a few spots right on the lake, although we never got one of those. Maybe if you called for a reservation?? Goshen Springs had the huge cement lots, with nice landscaping inbetween. Really nice facilities at either place.

We are leaving Moab, Utah tomorrow, heading to Grand Junction CO to pick up our now repaired computer. We took it to Best Buy a couple weeks ago, they mailed it to Gateway for us. Luckily, still under warranty. Then we head north, we are tired of the 100 degree weather here in Moab. Beautiful scenery though.

Currently in Paxton Nebraska for the night, heading north through South and North Dakotas to highway 2, and taking that into the UP of Michigan. Then down across the mighty Mac (bridge) to Greenville, my home town and my 40th high school reunion. You coming to the RGV this winter? We have nice pull-thrus at our park, right next to the pool and hot tub!! :):D

The last 2 weeks we have spent with family and friends here in mid-Michigan. I attended my 40th high school reunion, and now have invitations from all over the U.S., including Alaska, to visit my old high school friends on our travels. On Thursday we start heading south, and will visit my daughter in Paris, TN over Labor Day weekend. Then, down the Natchez Trace to Natchez Mississippi, and on to Texas for the winter.

Hope to see some of you winter Texans this winter!!

Time is getting shorter for us to follow the sun like the rest of you. Jeff had his hand surgery yesterday to correct the surgery in Feb. So far, so good.

We've been looking at RV's on line and a couple of times at dealers to see what's out there. Come October, we'll be ready to start dealing. We're leaving Oct. 5th to head for Michigan by way of Chicago for our son's wedding. If we see any deals close by, we stop off and look on the way back. We can't wait to get back on the road.

Howdy all,

We are still in Port Orford, Oregon but will be leaving Sept 25 for a SLOW return to south Texas (Mission) for the winter. We plan to visit some National Parks in southern Utah before heading into New Mexico and Texas. Prior to returning to the RGV, we have decided to check out the only part of Texas we haven't yet seen, Big Bend.

If any of you are in the Rio Grande Valley this winter, we would enjoy seeing you again. We expect to arrive at the Hidden Valley Ranch in Mission somewhere around November 1 and not leave until the middle of March. We have already scheduled a summer stay at Red Rock RV Park in Island Park, Idaho near West Yellowstone. Gotta stay cool you know!!!

We hope to see some of you along the way...safe travels all!

Barb,

We stayed at #1 Tyler this last time, it is rock and concrete. Good for staying clean and close to town but just wondering if you have a better spot.

Hey Gordon and Juanita,

I don’t know where the heck Port Orford is but if it’s anywhere near Portland you should take a trip to find/see the ORIGINAL STASH TRIBUTE PLAQUE. It’s located about 25 miles southeast of the city. No bells and/or whistles but it’s still exciting to see. The webpage has many links that are interesting too. Check it out.

Still here in Birch Bay, WA until Sept 15. Then the plan is to head to Birdsview, WA to get the truck and rig cleaned up. If weather does not cooperate then dirty rig goes to Boise, ID for grand daughters 5th birthday. End of Oct will see us in Benson, AZ for the winter.

When ever those of you heading to Q get there we will make a trip over for a couple of days to get together.

If anyone is going through Benson Mor Dearg (Big Red) will be there most days. Way up in back looking over Saguaro Co Op.

Agree with your assessment of #1 - that's why we usually stay at 5 Star - - a little further out, but there is room for Shadow to walk and it is much quieter since it is on a country road. People are nice - a lot of permanents that are construction workers, so they are usually there from Monday - Friday and then gone for the weekends. Also, it is a pretty straight shot down to the hospitals and physician's offices that we are usually visiting while we are there.

Hey Melvis!

We're on the coast about 60 miles north of the CA state line so not near Portland. We will keep a record of your note, however, and check it out the next time we pass through that area.

We appreciate the information! See ya down the road again I'm sure...safe travels,
