Keeping in touch-Class of 2006

Recommended Posts

Hi Y'all,

After the Escapade here in MO, we are heading west to the Grand Canyon, and Utah National Parks. Then in August, back to Michigan for my 40th high school reunion, and to see Vern's family and my son and his family. Then a trip to Tennessee to see my daughter and son-in-law.

Having lots of fun this spring, really enjoyed northern Texas, and the casino in El Reno OK, Vern hit a $500 jackpot!! Nice surprise.

Safe travels everyone...... hope to see some of you on the road.

We are still in Tucson, one more VA appt on Friday. Then it is off to Sedona for a few days. After that we will be located near Flagstaff to take a ride on the Grand Canyon Train. We then move on to Bullhead City and Nellis AFB for a couple of weeks. Paula's grandaughter will be joining us. Then it is off to Salt Lake City, Utah to get some "factory only" repairs done to the MotoSat Satellite dish. From there it is a run to the PA, NY area to visit relatives and then return to Tucson by Oct 15th for more follow-ups with the VA. Happy traveling everyone!!

Hams: We are so glad to hear you plan to get on the road again. We have a Newmar Class A and really love it. There should be lots of good deals out there right now. Good luck in your search.

We left Florida early in May. We have been in 2 mud bowls since. One at the Indiana SKP Rally and now at the Escapade in Sedalia. Lots of rain up here that finally ended yesterday. Tow trucks, everywhere!! Thankfully we are staying until Sunday and hope the ground dries out by then.

We will then head SW to New Mexico, NE Arizona, Utah and the national parks, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and end up in Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta in October.

We hope to catch up with Dave and Barb and naturally......do some geocaching. A new Escapees BOF for geocachers was kicked off here at the Escapade. There was a large crowd in the class and at the social.

If anyone will be on this path let us know and we will get together.

See ya down the road,

We figure will be in the Intermountain West in August - should be a great time to geocache, so we will be following Joe & Nancy's travels and picking a place to meet up. Of course we long again gave up trying to keep up with them.

Good to hear from you guys and all your well wishes for our successful return to The Life. Yesterday, we looked at some 2008 Allegro FRED's which are currently being marketed at 89,900. We think we want a used model however, just hope the good deals are there in the Fall when we'll actually be ready to buy. (Got a wedding in October to pay for first.)

Jeff has started physical therapy on his hand. He has regained some movement, but still has numbness and grip problems as well as pain from the therapy. Maybe by next March - our ETA for getting on the road - he'll be much improved and without pain. Here's hoping!

Safe travels to all!

Great news about Jeff - we're so looking forward to you guys getting out here again.

Well it has now been 3 years since we started fulltiming - - where did the time go? We spent part of today in the ER in Centralia getting Dave's foot X-Rayed. He turned it at his brother's place at Ocean Shores over Memorial Day weekend and the swelling wasn't going down and the pain was pretty bad. Nothing broken, just a bad sprain. This getting old is a pain - of course it beats the alternative!

Hey Guys,

Congrats on the three years...time sure flies!

I thought you were going to tell us that Dave fell out of a tree while searching for a geocache. :P

I guess he can't walk around anyone's yard with a glass of wine in his hand any more......

Take care,

Hope Dave heals really fast - there are lots of geocaches out there waiting to be found!

Can't believe it's been only three years; in many ways it seems so long ago that we set out on the great adventure. Now, it's been a year since we got off the road. Where did the time go? One more reason for getting back on - the days seem fuller, life at a more leisurely pace lasts longer.

Oh I love that! We're looking forward to seeing you out here again.

We're staying with relatives this summer - a few weeks here and there. Sure is helping the budget. We're paying for electric though they don't want to take it. Sure isn't bad around here, under 6¢ a KWH! Am looking at parks in Arizona for next winter - from about 12 to 22¢ a KWH - what a difference!

That was a great though the Hams put up. Yes, the days are fuller. Three years, wow! Seems much longer to me. These three years have been very full with lots of travel and lots of places seen.

Next month will be another new experience...my first visit to the Garlic Festival in Gilroy, CA. Can't wait to taste the garlic ice cream!! Yummm!

Looking at Quartzite this Winter.

Hams, will you be on the road an in Arizona by them?? Hope so. Hope there will be a lot of this class there.

Travel happy & safe,

The best laid plans of these two mice are to be on the road by mid-March 2010, and we're heading to the southeast, then up the east coast so as to be in the Northern areas by hot weather time. That, of course, is if we survive this summer in Texas. I don't know how we lived so long in the Texas summers. It's barely 90 and we don't even venture out without wilting - and it's only June 2nd! Arrrrrgggghhhh!!!

We're still in Centralia, WA - getting LOTS of things done on our honey-do list. My BIL is very handy, into things like body work - so the scrape and dent that happened when that post just jumped out and hit the utility bay door have been complete redone. Dave did a great job holding things down, running to get parts, and general supervision - - only problem is that we now have 2 panels that are beautiful - almost looks out of place. Also have new springs on the jacks, an added hanger to the pipe between the radiator and the engine, and assorted other things on the list done - - and still have another week to get the rest finished. Most of these were the little things that we could live with - but it sure is nice to get them working the way they should again.

Wow, would it be a blessing to have Jeff and Suzanne back on the road!!! Glad to hear and pray things go as planned. We are currently in San Antonio, TX and is just too HOT! Planning to make a run over to Corpus Christi for a few days next week and again return to SA until just after the July 4th holiday weekend. So if your in the area, let us know and maybe we can get together! After that who knows! Looking to head towards CO and/or UT, somewhere higher elevation and cooler ;-)

If we get up to the Dallas area, we will stop by to see the Hams again!

Hope all is well!

Finally back on the road after being in the inferno aka the RGV since Hurricane Dolly hit last August. We are tied to the Fedexman's dad since he cannot really function at full throttle anymore. However, he did drive a NASCAR for his 92nd birthday. Jeesh. Trying to figure out what he is gonna do for 93...his bucket list is growning instead of shrinking.

We are currently in Sherman Texas at the Lazy L RV park off state route 75...taking those red roads yanno....It is basically a parking lot with hookups. The Fedexman almost grabbed his chest and fell to the floor when the gal at the check in desk said so sweetly, "That will be $51 with your GS discount". I am not kidding. He didn't ask, she didn't tell and he will never do that again! I told him that this was the final straw with Woodalls...the 2009 book indicates something like $26 to $28 for one night. I'd say inflation hit hard in Sherman, TX. Beware...always ASK before you check in. I would have said hmmm... $57 per night? Good Luck with that and got back in the rig heading for the highway!

We will try to get to Lebanon MO tomorrow to visit the Aunt and a cousin and then on to St. Louis to see the boy. Graduated in Dec with English degree wanting to teach HS and JR HS English. Has had 2 interviews and has sent out about 150 resumes. I told him not to feel so bad....20 million others are in the same boat. When will it all end?

We will be stopping in Springfield, IL to visit Blonde's Mom and her hubby. Then on to Muskegon Michigan Elks campground which is our home lodge. After a month or so we will be making the U around the UP down into WI and back to the Chicago area to visit all the Blond's relatives in the windy city. Hoping to get back to IN and then on to OH for the Gypsy Journal Rally in Celina.

On Tuesday, we are heading down the coast to Winchester Bay for another two night stay before our arrival in Port Orford on the 25th and a nice long visit of three months.

It is great to be back in the beautiful Pacific Northwest...we hope to see some of you during the summer.

Hey Guys. Gordy and Juanita, you are not allowing yourselves nearly enough time from Pasco to Portland. That is a beautiful area. Make sure you see all the falls on the Columbia River Highway and smell the roses in Portland. The rose gardens are beautiful.

Hello All,

Despite the popular belief, we have not fallen off the face of the earth. Currently we are in Bullhead City, AZ (Got Heat???). We have had our Magnum Inverter/Charger reinstalled after a trip it took to the factory, for being bad. Things seem to be working OK now. Last week we were at Nellis AFB famcamp. Great People and a great famcamp. Google Map it and check it out. New part is 4 large circles with 25 full hook up sites per circle. Free wifi and not to close to the Las Vegas Strip. But on the same Blvd!!! We had one of our grandchildren come out to visit us and we had a ball. Went to see the Lion King at Mandalay Theater. As neither of us gamble to a great extent, Las Vegas was not that impressive to us. Although, the crowds were down, there was still heavy traffic on the strip. When we leave here we are heading to Salt Lake City, Utah to have our MotoSat Dish worked on. It has a coaxial cable problem that can be fixed only at the factory!!. From there it is back to the Northeast to visit relatives in PA and NY. We will return to Tucson, AZ in October so Dick can finish out his care at the VA there. Then it will be off to Quartzsite for the winter, again. Boy do we like the BLM La Pasa South. Take care, everyone and hopefully our paths will cross in the near future. I just read somewhere on one of the forums to make your travel plans in Jello. Sounds good to me, just make it Sugar Free.

Well after all of the honey-do list things were fixed, and a new problem found and fixed (brake booster pump) that really crimped the budget for a couple of months, we finally moved from Centralia, WA a whole 80 miles out to the coast at Ocean Shores. A little chilly here, but that is to be expected when you are right on the Pacific Ocean. We will be here through the 4th of July and then not certain where for a couple of weeks. My mom is having cataract surgery on the 22nd of July so we will be there with her for a few days. Still looking on starting south sometime in August, though it looks more like mid-August now.
