adagadak
Met up with Barb & Dave O'Keeffe yesterday and had a great time chatting over a glass (or two) of Virginia Wine! Dave even grilled up a couple of steaks! Thanks guys, appreciate it! For those who have not yet tried it, they took me out looking for a Geocache. WHAT FUN! I actually found one. I'm going back to Bath, NY, today for more visiting with my high school friend. That's today. Tomorrow it's off to Best Buy to pick up a hand-held GPS unit and start my own Geocaching adventures! I can't wait to take my friends, Pete & Alisa, out on a hunt. They are going to love it too! All I can say about Geocaching is "Try it, you'll like it"! Barbaraok
We had a wonderful time - geocaching is very infectious! Dave mentioned Vicki Carr and not only did Steve know who she is, he also has several of her records. Nostalgia time was evident as the two of them extolled her virtues. So - Steve, the movie that Dave mentioned (with Vicki Carr in it) is: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0340919/ Puerto Vallarta Squeeze (2004) Barb Barb & Dave O'Keeffe 2002 Alpine 36 MDDS (Figment II), 2018 Ford C-Max HYBRID Blog: http://www.barbanddave.net SPK# 90761 FMCA #F337834

M2ToGo
Jeff and Suzanne...we are so glad you have secured the location you wanted. Gordon and Juanita...keep those Alaska updates coming. We are learning so much and your photos are awesome! Dave and Barb...your geocache converts here have just infected another couple and their house full of teenagers. We are visiting friends in Wiscasset, Maine and have been caching twice with them and it's obvious they are seriously infected. From here we head up to Ellsworth, Maine then on to Pictou, Nova Scotia on July 16th. Just in time to join forces with you and attack the caches there. There is a Windjammer/Tall Ships event later this week in Boothbay Harbor. Can't wait! Joe and Nancy Too many roads, too little time. lindewoman
Howdy 2006ers! Keith and I have been in Wyoming cowboy land since we left the last of ten national parks we visited this year. Yellowstone was amazing, but still snowy. We will be in a Forest Service campground near Ten Sleep WY until the Esacapade. Are any 06ers in the neighborhood. Anyone else on their way to Escapade? Jeff & Suzanne
Thanks Charlie. . .it's a bit of a guilty feeling at how easily we have "let go" of our road life; but, Suzanne & I have always been able to roll with the punches. I already have an acting gig this Saturday with our long time acting company, Lagniappe Productions. I am playing a vile, corrupt railroad tycoon; riding a steam train loaded with audience members from Grapevine, TX to a restaurant in Ft. Worth's Historic Stockyards; where they will watch a murder mystery wherein I am the murder victim. I'll establish how hated I am on the train ride; then, go home after the guests enter the restaurant. Oh well, back to the same old boring life for twohamsinacan!!!! foggymtn
Bobby and Shelly, It's good to see you on the way out and about after your stay in AZ. We have been keeping an eye on you through your blog and may cross paths with you sooner or later. We are spending the summer in Alaska so will not make the gathering in Wyoming and will miss the '06 members who attend. We met up with a good number of class members in the Rio Grande Valley this past winter and always look forward to seeing old friends wherever they may be. Have a great time at Escapade and safe travels... Really long distance hugs from Alaska... Will be spending the winter there. Really enjoyed meeting with Jeff & Suzanne last week. We had a great meal and a lot of fun talking about our travels. Jeff & Suzanne
Hey everyone, we're in Detroit this weekend meeting our future daughter-in-law's parents. Had a great day yesterday going to the largest used book store I've ever seen - 7 stories!! We also went to Greenfield Village which is fantastic. We have to come back 'cause we only saw about 25% of it and then there's the Henry Ford Museum which we didn't see at all. If you are ever in the Detroit area - these are terrific things to see. bobsallyh
Hams, when you go to the Henry Ford mueseum, keep an eye out for a travel trailer and a car that I believed the Fords and the Firestones went traveling with. I wish I could remember what vehicle they pulled with, but I believe it was at least 15 years ago we were there. The place has so much in it. Vern & Sue
Hi Hams, you are right about a lot to see at "The Ford" as it's called now. I recommend at least a day to see each. Some displays in the museum are permanent and others are rotated, so you might not see the same thing each visit. We will be heading back up into The Mitten again this week. Both of us need to see some Dr's for tune-ups,...nothing serious....just stuff that slows us down.(Or is that old age, we'll see.) We might even go up across The Mighty Mac and see how the Yoopers are doing! lindewoman
Hi Classmates! Escapade was the Best! We watched the fireworks with Jack and Louise and visited with Froggi and with Melvis and with Robert and Shelly. It is good to have classmates! We are "home" in Rapid City for a couple of days then we will proceed east to spend time in IL with my mother and work Air Photo for a stint to pay for replacing our old tires. vogelly
Well folks, the Gillette Escapade is over but what a time we had. It was my third and best yet. Wyoming was fantastic, the weather was great (at least most of the time), and the folks were wonderful. It was great to see ol’ friends again and to make new ones. The 4th of Gillette ceremony was the bomb (pun intended) with one of the best fireworks displays I’ve ever seen and from the best seats in the house, our own backyard. Fellow classmates, Bobby and Shelly, Keith and Gail, Jack and Louise, honorary classmate Froggi Donna, and of course our class mascot Mia, were all there and accounted for. Unfortunately, due to our heavy social schedule we didn’t get to spend a lot of time together but it was sure great to see them all again and enjoy the little time we did have together. Can’t wait for the next time. Cheers y’all......................mike My blah...blah...blah...blog
Barbaraok
Well we made it into Maine and saw Joe and Nancy last night. We actually arrived a day early as Dave was afraid Joe would have found all of the geocaches around! Of course we will never catch up to them, but at least when we geocache together we don't fall farther behind. We (that's the royal we) managed to decimate a tire on the toad. I changed the order of hooking up and that meant the last check on the car brake being off didn't get done. Really shredded that tire. And since they have almost 60K on them (even though the speedometer only says 35K) its about time to replace them all. So Dave will be stopping at Sam's Club this week to get 4 new tires on the toad. Next week we head for Nova Scotia. molade
Sorry about your mishap Barb but I'm glad you will have new tires before arriving in Nova Scotia... Their scenic route has awful roads but tons of beauty and a great place to geocache.. All of the brochures talk abot the caches. Come on up! M2ToGo
Helen, Thanks for all the good information on your blog about Nova Scotia. We look forward to seeing Cape Breton and the Bay of Fundy tides. We will be staying in Pictou at Harbor Lights CG. Is the ferry from there to PEI a better deal than driving north and crossing the bridge in New Brunswick? We had a great day caching with Dave and Barb yesterday. We really got our exercise in with one that had us walking at least 2 miles with half of it on trails and half bushwacking. That's when you know you are hopelessly hooked on the hobby, or.......we won't go there. Nancy Joe and Nancy Too many roads, too little time. molade
Hi Nancy... Be sure they put you over on the far side at Harbor Lights. The side you come into is pretty much long term and very close. The far side is quite comfortable. The ferry cost us $105 and took only 75 min. to cross and you land real close to Pictou. The bridge would have been a tad over $60.00 but we felt we would have used that much more in fuel and a lot more time. They do not charge a toll to take the bridge into PEI, just the return. I hope we meet up with you when we get back from Newfoundland.. adagadak
The good news is that the knee no longer hurts. The bad news is that it does still pop & grind and the VA isn't going to do anything else until it starts hurting again. Soooo, I'm back on the road again. Heading for the Four Winds factory in Elkhart and then up into Michigan. Hope to see ya all on the road. Barbaraok
We're now in Pictou, Nova Scotia with Joe and Nancy. Scenic routes are real kidney busters out here! We're going to take the ferry over to Prince Edward Island tomorrow for a day trip around part of the island (and some geocaching). We've learned that some Canadian geocachers like to do 'easy' caches that take you 12 miles or so out on logging roads bouncing all of the way. Really should get credit for 2 finds for some of these!
