Keeping in touch-Class of 2006

Jeff & Suzanne

Recommended Posts

Greetings Classmates! Good to hear all the adventures of our friends. The Escapade chit-chat made me envious. They are such fun and so valuable, too.

Dave and Diane, Jeff and Suzanne, Gordon and Juanita, we will be in the Dallas area to visit a grandson in December, then will spend the winter in the RGV, likely Mission TX. Really looking forward to seeing ya'all.

We left Ohio after a satisfying visit with our families and are now working at Dollywood at Pigeon Forge TN. We are having fun doing something brand new to us. I guess I am just as glad we only committed to six weeks, though. This is WORK! Today we spent the day there and we weren't even working; there were shows to see and roller coasters to ride. There are lots of shows in town and lots of hiking and beeoootiful scenery.

Melvis, the map thing sounds interesting. Looking forward to seeing it.

O'Keefes---just south of Grand Coulee Dam is the Dry Falls. Don't miss this fascinating bit of Ice Age "trivia"!

Hi Keith & Gail...barring any further medical issues, we will be performing in the Lone Star Murder Mystery at The Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine from mid-November thru the end of December. We will try to see all of you who get to North Central Texas then. We will be at Texan RV Ranch in Mansfield; since, Tree Tops in Arlington has priced themselves out of our range. If anyone wants to enjoy the Gaylord gourmet buffet and murder mystery, e-mail us during the second week in November and we will try to coordinate our performance dates with your being there. There are usually three shows being performed simultaneously; so, we never know which one we will be in. Usually, we can switch casts to accomodate friends and family. Hi Gail and Keith, thanks for response. I was thinkin’ nobody cared about the map but you and I can get it started. Others can join whenever. I just thought it would be an easy way to see where everyone is located. Anyway, just click HERE and follow the directions. It’s easy, even Keith can do it. Your email address will not be displayed. Sometimes it doesn’t load right so you may have to try again. I’ll be checking to see when you get on it. If you have any trouble let me know and I’ll try to resolve them if possible. Cheers for now…………..

Ok, I've added us in. We're in Chelan, WA right now in the city park right on Lake Chelan

Hey Barb & Dave...when I added us to the map, a dot was in WA, and the message asked if we were there. I typed in Zion, Il, probably at the same time you were doing yours; and the rest is history. Did I mess up your entry?

Tonight we are at the Flying J in New Milford/Gibson, PA - Exit 219 of I81. Propane is ALWAYS 1.99 a gallon. We are on our way to Collegeville, PA to assist two of Paula's sons move to a new bigger house about 2 miles from where they are at. Dick is doing ok, had a partial amputation of his left greater toe last Sept 5th. Unfortunately, he didnt stay off it enough and blew out the stitches. After an emergency room visit and a return to the clinic, the Surgeon restitched Dick's toe (reminded him of sushi) and was chastised to STAY OFF YOUR LEFT LEG. Crutches, ugh. Anyway our friends where we were parked helped us break camp and we traveled to here, where Paula got to experience new things, such as fueling the rig and dumping the waste tanks. She did a great job. Take care and happy motoring.

We added our pin, cool beans Melvis, thanks for getting this going!

We spent a couple of days in Sault Ste Marie, free camping at the Indian Casino and won enough to pay for food and the Soo locks boat ride. It was a great stop over and you don't even have to gamble, just have to get a players card. Today, we visited Seney NWR, Tahquamenon Falls and Whitefish Point Bird Observatory, everyone was out on the sand dunes with scopes pointed out over Lake Superior waiting for the birds. It was fun to see the tiny warblers that come through Texas way up here in UP of Michigan. Kinda like us guys, they "get around" icon_smile.gif)

What a cool map Mike. Is this just for the class of 06? If so I wish I knew how you did it so we could have one for our class too. I suppose if it were open to all classes you would soon have too many dots but I'm going to be lurking to see where you all are at anyway icon_wink.gif

Jeff and Suzanne, have you checked our the Grapevine County Park? That was one of the nicest parks we have stayed at. Can't remember the price though but we sure loved it.

Hello All, Great response on the MAP. It seems to lag a bit on the updates and is sluggish at times(remind you of anyone?)but still very cool. I noticed that Gordon and Juanita, and John and Diana are practically on top of each other, so to speak.

I would prefer to keep this one for 2006 classmates only but you can start your own by clicking on “Create Map†at the top of the map page. You can create a different map for each group you belong to and customize the settings. Enjoy............

Hey Melvis--What a great idea you had! I've added our location.

We've really enjoyed following everyone's travels this summer and it sounds like everyone has exciting plans for the fall and winter. We are now in Utah enjoying all the beautiful National Parks. Some really beautiful rock formations and arches here, along with exciting 4WD trails. We took Pucker Pass a couple of days ago and it's named that for a reason. We've had an exciting summer, we traded in the toy hauler, bought a motorhome, sold the motorcycles and are now in the market for a couple of ATV's.

Enjoy!

Hey Bill & Helen. . .we know the park in Grapevine well, now called The Vineyards RV Park. That was our very first park as FTers! It used to be a CoE park; but, now has been leased to the city. They didn't have a monthly rate at the time...only a two week stay limit; and, it was $22 per night W/E; $28 FHU. Haven't checked lately. The Vineyards is very close to The Gaylord; but, too far from the kids/grandkids. We spend more time at the latter than the former. Thanks for thinking of it! icon_cool.gificon_wink.gificon_razz.gif

Mike,

http://www.kewadin.com/

Electric only, water on the way up the hill next to the very nice showers and great dump station on the way out on the right. If you indulge in a burger once in a while, don't miss the drive in under the big bridge next to the end of the soo locks. Hand made patty, very good and had to be a half pounder. All on the american side. icon_cool.gif

Mike, thanks for the great map, we have added our pin to the collection. The casino in Soo St. Marie is the Kewadin, there is only one there at the Soo, and its Vern's favorite casino since he won $1000 there.

We have been to Mammoth Cave and now we are on the Natchez Trace Parkway. 444 miles with no stop signs, no billboards, no stop lights, its just beautiful scenery all the way.

John and Diana, Glad you are enjoying our home state. Isn't the UP a unique place?? You must had some good luck at the casino. Do you like the yoopers? Have you run into some classics?

John and Diana,

Thanks for joining up with us in Ishpeming last night for a fun dinner. I'll bet that waitress never thought we would leave! icon_biggrin.gif

We enjoyed getting to know you two for a short time and look forward to seeing you soon in the RGV.

We are moving east today from Champion, MI, and not too sure where we will be next.

Melvis,

We will keep watching those map pins move....good idea!

Safe travels everyone!

Vern.....Last night at dinner Gordon had to explain to me what a "Yooper" was.....lol

The north woods are wonderful and the fall colors downright perfect, although I wish for more sun, the pasties, yummmmy, although I had to add hot sauce and I have to fuss at John for saying it WRONG, he does it on purpose icon_rolleyes.gif......we tried the local pizza with cudghi, (sweet wine infused sausage)...amazing...we plan to visit the Yoopers tourist trap......and are thinking heading south today along the Wisconsin northern coast/door county...trying to slip out the area ahead of these two wet fronts.

Hey Charlie, The people that live in the Upper Peninsula or the U.P. are called "Yoopers" and are proud of it. The people that live under the bridge are called "trolls." The song "I'm a Troll Man" was written about them. Lots of trolls from down below dream about moving to da U.P., but there's no work there. So they just go up to relax, enjoy and spend their cash, but they gotta go home afterwards.

icon_smile.gifOK Charlie60,

Being a native Michigander I'll explain. Since MI has two peninsulas,an upper and lower, the natives of the Upper Peninsula, or UP are UPers. They don't spell so good so it's Yooper to them icon_wink.gif.

Now those that live in the Lower peninsula,or below the Bridge(Mackinaw Bridge) are referred to as Trolls!

It's a long time local battle that is carried on because the UP would like to become the 51st state.

Hope this clears it up some.
