scubadave
Arrived at the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement last Tuesday. Wednesday we were given a partial tour and settled in. On Thursday and Today we have been getting ready for a big party here in Blountstown, FL called Goat Days. Don't know how or why the name. Here at the Settlement in addition to all the buildings here built from about 1822 to 1940 being open there will be a couple of the old kitchens where cooking will be going on. Should be a blast. Still trying to understand the lingo here though. cat called Anne May Lifetime SKP member 93117 2021 Renegade Classic 45' DD13 with a DT12

Tugg-n-Ridley
The weather in Tx has been delightful these last couple of weeks but we had to drag out the heaters last night. So I guess it's time to move further south We are leaving Conroe Tuesday and plan to drag our feet along the sandy coastline until we hit Mexico and then settle in for three months of vol work. The shrimp festival and cook off is Nov 2 in Port Isabel for those already in the Tx RGV. Hugs.... altsclmarm
Well, it's a hot and muggy one today in the RGV! I arrived back at Laguna Atascosa NWR a week ago. This morning, most of the volunteers went on a fifteen mile bike ride on the refuge. Sure glad we did that in the early morning. lindewoman
Hello classmates, from LA. Yes, we have arrived safely in Lower Alabama. Rainbow Plantation until Thanksgiving to be precise. If any of you is passing by on I10, we would enjoy a meet-up. Keith worked for FEMA (subcontractor) until there was no more work to do and we are taking it easy at a very pleasant spot. There are rivers to paddle and NWRs to explore. And a beach to lay on if we should desire to. An unusual cold spell has brought overnight temps into the 30s, but the up-side to that is daytime temps in the 70s and NO humidity. Perfect. Jeff & Suzanne
We had a great time visiting with Gordon and Juanita on Wednesday. Hard to imagine, but it's been almost three years since we first met them at Q and hadn't seen them since. Gordon graciously gave us some of his fishing wealth from Alaska. We're looking forward to eating wild salmon and halibut in the near future. Tugg-n-Ridley
.... in the mid 80's on south padre island today, the beach was perfect. We took advantage of the last day for a few it would be warm enough to enourage a swim in the gulf of mexico. There were loads of fishermen out today, guessing it has something to do with the full moon and the high/low tide. Vern and Sue .... the kites have been out in full force and they are beautiful. Last week, the kite surfers surrounded the island on both sides, it was fun to watch them zoom by. Me, John and Judy will be in Progresso Monday morning for dentist and will stick around for lunch if anyone is up for meeting us. Jeff & Suzanne
Two Hams - We will be in the Dallas area for a couple days at least, not sure how far we will be from you. But sure would like to meet you two! The Dallas area is HUGE. . .where are you staying? We live in Euless, close to the intersection of Cheek Sparger/Midcities Blvd. and State Hwy 121. The closest RV park to us is The Vineyards in Grapevine (pricey, but, close to Grapevine Mills Mall; The Gaylord Texan (a must see place now that it's decorated for Christmas. Our next show will be on Nov. 28th); and, downtown Grapevine (well preserved 1880's architecture/shops); Bass Pro Shops; Walmart; Sam's Club; etc., etc. Next closest is Hickory Creek CoE park, on Lake Lewisville; or, Tree Tops RV Park in Arlington; both about 20-25 miles from us. Hope we can meet up. Vern & Sue
We had a long day, but are finally settled in a nice campground on Lake Lewisville, its a city park, called Lake Park on 407 also called Justin Rd. We don't have an appointment at the dealer for service, so will know tomorrow if they can work us in. It doesn't look good though, the campground at Buddy Gregg was full, and we know of at least 2 others who are in other campgrounds like us. So.....I guess we will know more tomorrow. M2ToGo
Hello Classmates! We just returned from 6 months to New England and the Maritimes. We had an awesome time with Dave and Barb in Maine and Canada. Last week we attended the back-to-back SKP rallies for Chapter 27 and 15, both held at Sumter Oaks in Bushnell. We put on a Geocaching class for Chapter 15 and placed 7 caches around the park for folks to find. It was so much fun. This weekend we are at our first Samboree in Orlando with our Palatka chapter. Then we must return to Interlachen, near ailing parents, and be bored for the winter. After experiencing this lifestyle for 2 years now, it is so difficult to sit still for very long! Send us a PM if you will be coming through NE Florida this winter. Joe and Nancy Too many roads, too little time. SKP #81932
Barbaraok
Joe & Nancy, We also had such a great time in Maine and Canada. Where are you going next summer? We're looking at the intermountain west - Idaho, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, etc. We're in Tyler doing the annual checkups for us, cats, and vehicle inspections. Waiting for a part to come in to fix the air horn on the motorhome so we can pass inspection - - parts for old orphan coaches are a real treasure hunt exercise! Best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving for all '06ers.
