RetiredTorng Posted Thursday at 09:39 PM Report Posted Thursday at 09:39 PM Just a wild idea. Does anybody know any fitness center that has a dump station for RV? I would definitely sign up that fitness center. Quote

I travel around in my RV and I have medicare with free fitness center membership. At fitness center, I can take free shower, if it also has free dump station, I can dump my black and grey water tanks and park my RV there overnight too. I don't think adding a dump station and provide fresh water is too much of a problem at any fitness center. Like I said, it's an wild idea. Quote

Most of the fitness centers I'm familiar with are located in shopping center facilities, likely in leased buildings with common parking lots. I don't think a dump station would be a practical addition in those circumstances. And then there's the permit's codes, etc, needed to be met. I think most fitness centers are more interested in long term local memberships than they are in transient members. Oh, and overnight parking would be subject to both parking lot management permissions and municipal regulations. All in all, I don't see it happening in all but a very few situations. As said, some campgrounds have pretty nice on-site fitness facilities. I haven't been there in several years, but the Kingsland, GA KOA had a fairly well equipped fitness center as I recall. In our six months of travels per year since 2004, we have encountered too many RV parks with fitness equipment onsite to even begin to list them. I think a number of Thousand Trails RV parks and others like Carefree and Sunshine as well as individually owned RV parks have fitness equipment available. What type and how much varies of course. In some rural areas, city and county recreation centers and parks may have fitness equipment. Two I seem to recall are the Coahoma County Expo-center in Clarksdale, MS and the Herrington, KS recreation center. Camping was not free but cheap and they had dump facilities. A number of public campgrounds have outdoor fitness trails which are probably not what you are looking for. Quote

Because a lot of "Van" campers are starting to use fitness centers for dual purpose, get a good workout, and a nice shower. I'm sure they would love a dump station to make it even better. If they have "Holding Tanks" that is. sandsys Posted Friday at 06:27 PM Report Posted Friday at 06:27 PM We have dumped at a rest area on I-40 in Oklahoma and the turnpike in Ohio. Cities that have sewage plants usually have a public dump. Marinas often have pump out service. We have pulled into a campground where we didn't plan to camp to use their dump for free or a small fee. We have dumped for free at Cabela's and at truck stops. We have had pump out service in a campground. There are so many ways and places to dump. My memory says there's even a website where you can look up dumps close to you but I have no clue what its URL may have been. Not sure how many other states. I'm in Oklahoma now and will have to check if there are any on I 35. Don't go east or west much in the state. There use to be some on I-70 in Indiana. Last time I was through that area they were closed. PA opened some at the rest areas on the turnpike. Not all Cabela's have dump stations and I think it was one in West Virginia that closed theirs. The links provided by Dutch_12078 are handy links to have available. Quote

RetiredTorng Posted yesterday at 06:10 PM Author Report Posted yesterday at 06:10 PM Thank you for all your comments. Campsites, rest area, truck stops seem to be the place for dump, may be visitor centers or Bass Pro. Great advices. Quote
