superyooper Posted November 11 Report Posted November 11 Anyone able to bypass the thermostatic switch that is mounted on the tubing and turns on the two exhaust fans? I would like to bypass and replace the thermostatic switch with a simple on off switch. Clearances are pretty tight and looks to me like I would have to pull the frig out to get at the switch? Just looking for an easier way. Quote
Wrknrvr Posted November 12 Report Posted November 12 If you are talking about the thermostat at the top of the fridge, you need patience. But I have done a number of them. If you remove the exhaust vent on the roof, you can access the thermostat. But I would suggest putting two fans at the top of the outside access. On a switch. Years ago I have did a number of them, that way. Quote
superyooper Posted November 14 Author Report Posted November 14 thank you for the info. Did you bypass the thermostat? Did you have to run wires? Where did you put the switch? thanks for your help. Quote
Wrknrvr Posted November 14 Report Posted November 14 What I did was to keep the factory thermostat as it was built. That thermostat can be changed without pulling the fridge out. If you take the outside cover off, then look how to mount two fans on the rv body. I may have mounted them on a metal bracket. I am trying to remember how I did them. They may need to be set at a small angle. The idea is to push air up past the back of the fridge. I finally figured out to mount a switch, that could be turned on and off from the outside, by using a eraser on a pencil.. you just need to see what will work. You also need to install a small am fuse in the system. Quote
Wrknrvr Posted November 14 Report Posted November 14 If you pull the roof cover off you can access the thermostat from there. Take a utility knife and cut the screen along the edge very carefully. When you are done, put the screen back in its place. You normally can stretch it out to touch the outside. Then use some goop glue and put it back together. The back of your hand may get scratched so be prepared. Also if you put a touch of goop glue on the Philips driver head it will dry fairly fast. But then it will hold the small screw until you get it out. Quote
Wrknrvr Posted November 14 Report Posted November 14 I was thinking that the switch would nice to have the light in it. That indicates the power is on. Like separate water heater 12 vdc switch. Quote
