Heading for Escapade!

Recommended Posts

We have our RV pretty much packed and tomorrow morning we will be heading out for Lebanon, TN and Escapade. Some of the staff are already there with more arriving pretty much every day this week. We are due there on Wednesday and all of the staff will probably get there by Thursday afternoon, along with the Boot Camp attendees. We are really getting pumped up now and anxious to be on our way!  Anyone else out there on the road or about to be?

We are newly retired and have been full timers in our 42’ Class A for a year now. Wow, did THAT go fast! This will be our first Boot Camp/Escapade and we are really looking forward to meeting so many others who enjoy this lifestyle. High hopes that some of the holes in our knowledge will be sealed when we are through!

Gary & Carolyn, watch for us there! We will be working with security again this year so watch for us when you arrive as we usually direct traffic at the entry gate as you arrive. If not you will see us running about on a golf cart or checking credentials at events. See you Thursday!

2023 will be our first time attending the Escape  March 19 thru 2023

Is there anyone out there that has attended before that can answer some questions for us?

After purchasing the tickets will they also send information on where we are to go on the first day?

I have so many questions.

1. Will there be rv parking? assigned or park where ever you want? full hook ups or dry camping?

2. how early can we arrive?

Lots of us have been to Escapade but Kirk probably has the most current, accurate answers. But I can assure you that, yes, there will be RV parking. Lots and lots of RV parking. But, if you want hookups register as early as possible as those sites tend to be limited in number.

Josie, welcome to the Escapee forums! We have attended many Escapades and have been part of the Escapade security team for the past 8 years so should be able to answer most of your questions, and if you should ask something that I don't know I can probably point you to the person who does.

1) Escapades always have RV parking. The Escapade directors travel the country between events looking for new locations to hold them and the RV parking one of the key things that determine where they hold them. Escapade 2023 will be at the Pima County Fairgrounds, just east of Tucson, AZ on March 19-24, 2023. Pima County Fairgrounds have about 300 full hookup RV sites, probably another 200 water & electric sites, with additional space for dry camping. The last time that Escapade was held there we had more than 900 RVs. Registration will open in the fall so watch the page above and register early to be sure that you get full hookups if that is what you want. In addition, there are numerous RV parks in that area and most years there are a few RVs that stay in one of those and pay for a walk-in pass and do not stay on the fairgrounds.

2)  The earliest that attendees are allowed to arrive will be on Friday, March 17 at 8-am and the latest will be on March 19, with parking ending at 2 PM. Late arrivals can be arranged for when there is some valid reason that you can't be there on time, but you need to call the Escapade office should that need arise.

RV parking for Escapade is a very complicated thing if you consider the large numcer of RVs that attentd, and the different parking issues that must be dealt with. When you register you can do so for full hookups, partial hookups, dry camping, solar only camping, family camping, handicapped camping, camping with one of the BOF groups, or one of several other situations. There is a crew of more than 20 volunteers who get everyone to their proper parking location and a security team who control traffic into the park and access to the grounds and a customer service team to deal with registration issues, all in order to insure that eveyone gets to their proper location in a reasonable  amount of time. That group all arrive a day or 2 before you in order to be ready to park between 100 and 400 RVs per day for the parking period and all of them are volunteers. For that reason parking is only done between the hours of 8 am and 2 pm each of the three arrival days and by special arrangement at other times.

Escapades are an awesome thing to see and experience and are the highlight of the Escapee year for many of us who have become involved in them. Feel free to ask as much as you wish and we will do our best to supply the answers. Here is a picture of the facility where 2023 Escapade will take place.

Thanks for the background information Kirk.

Even though we attended the Rock Springs event, what you described is very helpful.
