Mini Cooper?

Recommended Posts

Manual, probably flat tow. Auto, almost certainly need a dolly. Decent enough cars, good power, good fuel mileage, decent room.

I have been wrong before, I'll probably be wrong again.

If you wish to purchase a Mini Cooper to flat tow, be aware the dealership will tell you it can't be done. For this reason, towing a newer car is discouraged. It's ultra important to note – flat towing is not officially supported by MINI – doing so will void the transmission warranty. Apr 12, 2021

The Technomadia couple flat towed a Mini Cooper for awhile. They got it from friends who had also been towing it. You might read their blog to see what they say.

Once again, Kirk posted quicker than I did. :)

New or old.....the owner's manual should provide the *official* word.

As the mfgrs updated the automatic transmissions (w/many vehicles) - older was a yes, new was a no.   You need to know the magic date (year) for the changeover.

Without Remco info anymore - potential buyers must do their own (thorough) research.  Also, at one time one (or more) of the MH mags published an annual list.

Bottom line - check the owner's manual, be sure it's the correct manual for the year of the vehicle you're looking at......and of course, never take a salesperson's word for same.

😉

Remco is now Superior Driveline.

I would never recommend following the published recreational towing in any magazine or on any internet website. I have found 2 errors in the FMCA towing guide for last year; can't remember them now.

I agree with you, the owners manual for the specific vehicle is the only official word.
