homelesshartshorns
Can anyone give me some experience with parking my rig and toad near the Alamo / River Walk for the day? Twotoes
When I went to visit the Alamo several years ago I stayed at the Escapees Co-Op nearby in Hondo TX and drove my Jeep into San Antonio to visit the Alamo. Much easier that trying to find RV parking in town. Kirk W
I would not take a class A with towed into that area. It has been a couple of years since we were last there but as I look at Google maps, there hasn't been much change. There is a commercial parking lot about 2 blocks to the east but it is small and very tight. I doubt that they would even let you park there. We usually stay at Traveler's World RV Park and then take the bus downtown as there is a stop right outside. Also, at Traveler's you are just a few blocks from the main site of San Antonio Missions NP which you should see while you are there. One day is really not enough to see much of the sites in SA. Another good option with bus service to downtown would be the KOA there. Quote Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... Last summer was the most recent. You will have a hard time finding parking for a car and driving a Class A would be a nightmare. Be prepared for a surprise, the place is much smaller than you expect. But worth a visit. Riverwalk seems to have gone downhill somewhat from our visit seven or eight years ago. There are some nice State Parks outside town along with the Escapees park. We did most of the missions last summer. OK but not fabulous.

Downtown San Anronio is NOT the area for a large RV.
