GlennWest
Just checked my meter on my pedestal. 17 amps on L2. Dryer on high. Both mini splits on too. Normally run about 7-9 on L2. Trying to see if I can get by with a 5k inverter. With a 5k will have 42ish amps. Plan on a 240v unit with an autotransformer. It would allow more than half of output on one leg. GlennWest
OK, dryer off now. Running 7&8 amps on L2 now. So dryer running about 1200 watts on high. So it and the microware close to each other. My hot water heater also is on electric. L2 usually is more than L1 and that difference might be the water heater. Have to check on that to verify. Looks like this is doable with a 5k with autotransformer. If i go up to a 8k would not have to be concerned with microwave and dryer same time. System draw power be higher on an 8 k vs a 5k. It still amazes me how little current these min splits use. oldjohnt
Glenn, as a designer and per the NEC back then, if a load was designed to operate on a 20 Amp Branch Circuit, the "Maximum Continuous Current" was no greater then 80% or 16 Amps. Of course we preferred it be even less where possible. Best wishes John T
