kt07481
Morning All - I'm looking to sell my hybrid Solaire 213X and purchase a new TT. Does anyone have any experience with any of the following: Jayco Jay Flight SLX245RLS, Keystone Outback 240URS or Keystone Bullet 261RBS? My TV is a 2010 F150, 4.6L, GVWR 7,700 lbs. Thanks for any advice!
Kirk W
Jayco Jay Flight SLX245RLS, 7624# Keystone Outback 240URS 7589# Keystone Bullet 261RBS 7600# 2010 F150, 4.6L, GVWR 7,700 lbs From Motor Trend magazine. Quote Maximum payload for the F-150 stands at 3,030 pounds on models fitted with the optional Heavy Duty package, 2,060 pounds for models that are not. Maximum towing capacity is 11,300 pounds, also for models fitted with the Heavy Duty package. It would seem that any of those could be towed by your F150. It would seem that any of those could be towed by your F150. Not so fast... There are versions of the 2010 4.6L rated to tow as little as 5100 pounds. It depends on the engine version (2V or 3V), and the rear end. The highest tow rating for the 2V version is only 6000 pounds, while specific configurations of the 3V version go up to 9500 pounds. The referenced Heavy Duty Package was available only with the larger 5.4 L engine and had an associated GVWR of 8200#. TXiceman
I had a RAM 1500 with their 4.6L and tow package. I was really under-impressed with it, but it was a company truck, so it cost me nothing. Fuel economy was horrible and putting a 800# load in the bed, the poor truck could no pull stink off of you know what. Be very careful of your ratings. Use the trailer GVWR and not the brochure or unloaded weight for the trailer. NamMedevac 70
My Ram 2500 HD V10 8.0L gasser was a towing monster in the Rockies and west coast mountains. It was 4X4 with the 3500 rear axle for camper package. I also owned two 1500s a 5.2 and 5.9 that gave me excellent towing service with no issues. Towed 5000 lb TT with all. Used the 1500s for flatlands towing only. Yes I could easily afford the gas for the V10 hog. Cheers to some and jeers to others. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1739912699644241&type=3 Edited April 27, 2021 by NamMedevac
