GlennWest
Shortly after getting my truck I accidently got a wrench on my alternator when closing hood and shorted it out. So put a new Wilson on it. Well I had to put another on it. Burnt out at post , retifer. Cable was tight. Sent it off to be rebuilt but to far gone. Scratching my head on this. Parrformance
Could the wrench short out caused the ECM to require full amps whenever the truck is running? Shortening the life because it is essentially running wide open? Just a wild a$$ guess, based on no knowledge of the circuit. GlennWest
Interesting. It is charging wide open 14.7 right now but batteries are low. But I hadn't noticed it doing this. I would have since it has an analog guage. I removed the back and it got hot and melted some of the plastic in it. Stud got hot. But connection was good and tight. Line on truck didn't get hot enough to show sign.
