Power steering hose replacement-Volvo

trimster

Recommended Posts

Seems that the last owner didn't replace the upper power steering hose... just put a clamp on it. It's now starting to leak a bit.

How hard are these to replace? seems rather easy from the looks of it.

and

Once replaced, is there any trick to bleeding the lines?

Thanks all.

Two wrenches, each end. Always use a backup wrench when loosening or tightening hose fittings. Remember, "Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey". After replacing, start the engine, move the truck slowly while steering side to side. Don't steer in place, that's called "Dry steering" and doesn't do your power steering system any good. Hard on seals, heats up the pump, stresses the steering box mounts, and wears the tires. Check the fluid levels, and you're done.

I have been wrong before, I'll probably be wrong again.
