OR ... if you don't want to use the boring old "generator" description for that fuel tank, they are also used on inline bale wrappers manufactured by:

Groupe Anderson Inc

5125, rue de la Plaisance Chesterville, Qc G0P 1J0 (Canada)

Just filled one with gas the other day...

"Are we there yet?" asked no motorcycle rider, ever.

Bit of an update on the finishing touches to our bed build.

Those openings in the rear top of the bed are now covered. The Drivers side is just a lid/door to cover the aux gas tank for the geni. The passengers side is a storage bin for air hose, extra water hose, extension cord, etc. Both will have gas lift struts to hold them up. When the water tight latches come in, I'll post photos of those. Rather a cleaver design... and lockable.

Nice touch.  I struggled with whether to put storage there, and decided to slope the portion of the bed from the front of the hitch, back.  Roughly 40" sloping a total of three inches.  I could have had a 5" deep storage tray in there.....

I'd bet if we parked our trucks side by side, we'd both say, "Gee, I wish I'd done that."

But, I've probably borrowed enough of your ideas already.

Truck really likes the extra weight on the bed. Ride is nice.

Turns out that we needed some cheater ramps to clear the front air dam on the Smart from hitting the ramps, and the break-angle on the truck bed. Stored them on the bed with a bracket I fab'd that threads into the bed.

Thanks for all the help on this folks.

When I get back to Salt Lake, the side skirts (water jet cut before we left) will get installed and painted.

So next up... Fruita, Co (here now), Delta, Colorado, Durango, Co., Bernalillo, NM, Petrified Forest,  Phoenix.....

Hoping you have better luck with those handles than I. Keep an eye open for liquid in the box.

I have been wrong before, I'll probably be wrong again.

Now that i have a bit of time at home base, working on the side skirts for the bed. They get welded in place next week. Then off too the paint shop. The holes you see are for through-welding.

They were water-jet cut, matching the template I created.

Dang Robert, nice work.  Some day, we're gonna have to park our trucks side-by-side and compare.  See how many ideas I've "borrowed" from your build...

Our methods are quite different, but much the same goals.  My templates were rough drawn on cardboard, trimmed and fitted, then traced onto the plate.  I then cut them out with the plasma torch and used a hand grinder to get final shapes.  I left some grind marks, just for effect.  Well, and I was to lazy to mix up more bondo.

First test fit. Fairly close.  Need some tweaks of course. The truck is aired down. Rises 5" when bags are full.

Ya. I made cardboard templates and gave them to the waterjet folks.

Need to add a few more braces in key places. They could only cut 8' lengths, so I have a seam to back and fill.

It's going to be 50 degrees this week. Welding time!

Oh my.  Our trucks really will be similar.  I cut off my side skirts 14" from the top bed surface, yours looks pretty close to that.  But, my skirt is in 4 pieces, each independent of the next.  Some welded to the deck, but some held with bolts, so I can remove whatever pieces of the bed I might need for service access.

If it doesn't take a 50lb anvil for a dolly and a 20lb sledge as a body hammer, you did good on the welding and fitting 😎

Those days are far behind me, and on our bed, it shows.  But it'll look good from 50'.

I think Robert's is gonna look good a lot loser.
