We on the other hand are experiencing tropical storm winds and rain, very muggy and wet.

Whooa... sun and 47 degrees. please discount the 45mph winds as the cold front moves in. Just enough to bolt on the mud flaps.

The window wells (aka fenders) have pre-drilled holes in them. Cut some angle iron and drilled to match the fenders and the mud flaps. Stainless hardware...and wa-la.

Get you a set of these poly mud flaps. They wont sail like them rubber ones. Unless you are going to put weights on it. I got a pair and they are actually pretty good quality for the price.

So when completed,ย  the mud flaps will be tucked between the tires and a box behind them. Maybe a couple of inches clearance.ย  The box should keep them from sailing yo much. At least that's the plan.

Our mud flaps are between the tires and the box and it works well but I also put mud flaps behind the box to catch some of what the first set might miss.ย  It has worked well for us.

Debris doesn't just fly straight back, but also at an angle.ย  We learned the the hard way when we went down a freshly chipped road in NM a few years ago.ย  The front of the coach was evenly peppered, notย just behind the tires.ย  We now have full width flaps.

Had a couple in the park, last summer. Rear driver's side window blew out, no other traffic around. During the cleaning, he found a rock just barely bigger than a marble on the floor. Must have come off either truck or trailer tires.

I have been wrong before, I'll probably be wrong again.ย

Ahhh. New Mexico.ย  Poster child for crappy roads.

We've not spent a lot of time in MN, yet.ย  One week exploring around Red River/Taos, and a couple trips across I-10.ย  I will say, we ran into a lot of new chip/seal on the trip to Red River.ย  Not a lot of fun on bikes.

You really need to come east.... Louisiana, Mississippi, Illinois, Indiana, and the whole northeast beat New Mexico on the roads.... Pennsylvania leads the north east on road construction.
