woman_who_sees
Does anyone know how to remove water stains from the ceiling? Jan
Kirk W
To some degree, it depends on where the stains came from. If caused by an external leak they are more difficult than if from something sprayed on it from the inside. Another significant factor is the material your ceiling is made of. For a surface stain we found an upholstery cleaner worked, fairly well.
NDBirdman
A good stain covering primer then paint, after the stain/water source is repaired/replaced.
mptjelgin
If it is a fabric-covered ceiling, the "Oxi" type products can work well on a water stain. Test in an inconspicuous area first to make sure it doesn't do something you don't like.
Ray,IN
A member tipped me off to using Folex carpet cleaner, it works great! Due to an air leak, the ceiling was stained with diesel exhaust, black and oily. The Folex removed everything and returned the ceiling carpet to white again. Then used in on an old water leak stain, it is gone too. We tried using carpet paint, ugh. Not only did it make the ceiling carpet hard and stiff, it is now crumbling off.
