aztex
Hi, I am about to register for Escapees mail service but not 100% on which state I will eventually use for domicile. I just want a good address and some mail forwarding.. Will this complicate matters down the road if I chose a different state? Thanks! Barbaraok
Having a mail address doesn’t mean that is necessarily your residency. Lots of people have another address, but use a mail forwarder for their mail while traveling, etc. Quote Barb & Dave O'Keeffe 2002 Alpine 36 MDDS (Figment II), 2018 Ford C-Max HYBRID Blog: http://www.barbanddave.net SPK# 90761 FMCA #F337834

If you choose to use the mail service now with your present state of domicile, that isn't any problem. At the time that you choose a domicile state you will then need to contact the mail service to set up that part of it and if you should then choose FL or SD, you will then need to have that address put on your vehicle registrations, insurance policies, and driver's license, as well as registering to vote in which ever state you have chosen. The majority of your mail is sent to the TX mail sorting center in any of the 3 choices of domicile. Quote Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... It's so frustrating as TX, SD and FLA each have major pros and cons and hard to figure which best for me. I'm just finding myself on the road further from my PO Box in AZ. I thought I'd be swinging through Tucson every month but the ~heat~ has kept me up north for a few more weeks at least. My registration on RV and TV are due in March so have that long to decide... 2gypsies
What are the pros and cons you're confused about between TX, SD and FLA? Sounds like you definitely need to get a mail forwarding service so you don't have to run 'home' all the time to get your mail. You just contact them when you're ready to have mail sent and where you'll be someplace for 5 days or so. It usually took 3 days for us to get Escapees mail... sent Priority ... but Alaska took 5 days. Pick a small town to have it delivered c/o General Delivery. It works very well. Many times we'd request the mailing as we were traveling to the post office we designated. Then we'd just drive there, pick it up and be on our way again. You do have to plan ahead a little but Escapees never failed us in 16 years of constant travel. Twotoes
You can keep your AZ Domicle/residence and just use the Escapees mail forwarding service if you want to. You would have your mail address in TX, no sense to use FL or SD just for mail unless you are changing your domicle since all mail goes thru TX. When you are ready, just call the mail center, tell them where you currently are and they will send you your mail. Each state has some positive and some negative factors. I have always preferred TX but I was also on Medicare before the ACA came into effect. With that the best state for most people who must purchase health care insurance is usually FL and worst is probably SD. But there are other legal factors to consider.
