Question on tire sealant & EcoRvPro

Hi all,

We just upgraded from a travel trailer to a HR Invicta motor home today.  Not ready to pick up  for a week as the washer-dryer combo still needs to be installed.

Questions on Multi seal the dealership was suggesting for tires.  The sales guy was suggesting it was great at preventing flats, but I am leery about any liquid inside the tires as it seems it would throw them  off balance.

Also promoting EcoRVPro ExteriorShiled coating and MicrobeRepel inside.  At first look it seems the interior may be a "Scotchgaurd-like" application that would not be very safe as it likely off gasses.

Any ideas or suggestions from anyone?

From what you're describing, I would find another source for tire advice. Many tire shops won't touch a tire/wheel that has had a sealant in it. As Glenn said, good tires don't leak and, if something makes a big enough hole to make the tire leak, a sealant won't help, anyway. As for the other, sounds like another scheme to part fools from their money (really high markup/profit margin for the dealers on this type of thing).

Both of the items that your sales person is promoting and what in the trade are called "dealer addon's." As such they are very high profit margin items which cost the dealership very little but which pay both the dealership a large profit and the sales person a very high commission.

Multi Seal is a liquid product that is readily available from Amazon to Walmart and just about everyone in between. The last that I knew there were no tire pressure monitor systems that will work on a tire with any type of liquid inside. We have owned two different class A motorhomes, the first for 9 years and the second for 14 years and never had even one flat tire on either one. Motorhome tires are almost always replaced due to age, rather than wear. As previously stated, many tire shops will not work on tires that have such products in them.

The other two products are an even bigger rip-off. If you want to treat the interior upholstery, buy some Scotch Guard fabric protector from the inverter, 3M and do it yourself.

Premium tires don't leak.

Well, over time tires will lose air pressure due to permeability of the inner liner(which is the only part of a tire designed to contain air). To verify, visit Roger Marble's website https://www.rvtiresafety.net/

All gas pressurized tires will slowly leak, just not enough to  cause concern.
