dan412
Has anyone replaced the upper sleeper windows in 2011 Volvo 780. The rubber that holds the window in is all cracked. The dealer said I need to replace the whole assembly. Can glass shops get theses windows and the rubber seals or do I have to get them at the dealer.
rpsinc
Wouldnt this be like a windshield replacement, which are often done using the same rubber gasket over again?? Seems like the parts guys are getting paid to sell parts, whether needed or not. An assembly rather than the needed PART. Will this help? https://www.vanderhaags.com/Search-Results.php?manufacturer=volvo&inventorytype=sleeper-window

I would like to replace just the rubber.
rpsinc
I included that link only to show that the dealer may not be the exclusive authority on those and the only source. Kind of like my experience with slide seals for my 5ers. I have found several sources for them, and bought and replaced them in kind. Both of my 5ers are out of production with manufacturer out of that business.
dan412
Called the Volvo dealer yesterday and found out that I have to buy the whole window the seal is part of the frame. They have them in stock only $450.00 each plus installation and tax.
Darryl&Rita
Have you talked to a glazier? Glass guys usually have access to rubber parts independent of dealerships.
Nigel
Maybe send Av8r3400 a pm. His business was or still is Auto Glass and may know if there is an alternative to the dealer. Nigel

I have the same problem on my 2014 - I see used ones for sale from the scrap yards but what are the odds of the seal being cracked.... Mark
dan412
Haven't done anything yet windows are 480.00 each from Volvo and they have to put them in 150.00 per hour. I'm saving my money Dan
COFLTravler
So I'll ask the group again - has anyone even had this window out? Trying to figure out if this is something I can do myself. Thanks Mark

lappir
Was hoping the thread was about motorizing the windows. Wouldn't it be great to hold a button from the driver seat to open and close them? I sometimes open them in the heat of summer to let out some of the heat while sitting. Then I forget to close them till I'm on the road and wondering why my A/C isn't cooling as fast as it used to. Rod
