You stay in the car a vet tech takes the dogs inside and vet calls you on your cell during the exam. Owner was instructed to remain in the vehicle at all times. If the dog misbehaved, it would be returned to the car, posthaste. Second Chance Posted April 1, 2020 Report Share Posted April 1, 2020 Our son and daughter-in-law are both veterinarians (internal medicine and oncology, respectively) in Cincinnati. Their hospital has started doing the same thing (a vet tech in full PPE takes the animal from the owner outside). They are also starting some tele-medicine visits. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 antibodies have been identified in at least one dog somewhere, indicating that dogs can react to and, therefore, possibly transmit the virus. Not enough data, yet, to tell.
