In our opinion, some questions were not pertinent to RV travel.  We provided the answers to the questions we deemed appropriate the rest we left blank.

The survey is of those who are RVing in one form or another and some basics about who these people are.

Gee, thanks for explaining that to me.  We still feel that the personal nature of some of the questions were not appropriate and as such, we didn't answer them.  Knowing how we travel, where we stay, and what we like to do is valid.  What our income is, race, and other personal questions is not necessary, in our opinion.

Fine.  But realize without any demographic info the survey is basically worthless to any company that wants to tap into new markets.

Hard to say, advertise with us because we can tell you something about how people travel, but can’t tell you anything about the types of people who RV.

Asking how often and how far are good questions.  Asking where we prefer to stay is another good example.  Asking about our income, gender, race and other questions is not acceptable.  Tacking the word census to the survey is another false step.  If you or anyone else choose to answer those questions, go for it.  We don't care if you do, but we chose not to.  We are very careful about the information we put out on unsecured sites.  Frankly, I don't understand why everyone else isn't.  You also won't find me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other "social media" location.  We choose this location for the information on the RV lifestyle, but if a secured site was available we would be there.  To each is own.

I agree with Barb that it's good data for marketing purposes, as well as for planning purposes. I felt the income, race, etc., questions were broad enough categories that I wasn't giving away any traceable personal information. Assuming anyone wanted to go to the trouble of attempting to trace it to me anyway. Not an easy task...

I stopped at what kind of parks do you park at. Military RV parks are heavily used by active duty and retirees. I can understand why folks without base privileges would be uninformed. Suggest you add that to it as businesses around bases get our biz too.

Linda, I am selling my Scamp fiver so technically I still am a part timer. I'm also selling my Ram 2500 diesel long bed. When I get another it will likely be a class C or the new VW camper van, if they ever import it.

Having worked with the survey monkey people, I assure you that it is completely anonymous when you answer. What reason would they care who gave what answer?   Statistical data can be very useful in considering what services may be attractive but individual tracking would serve no purpose and waste a lot of money.

I have issue with one question, the one about what type of place you stay at in the RV.  Private RV Park, National Parks/State Parks, etc.

The question is worded as, note how often you stay at the various type of parks.  However the choices were to list from 1 to 6 from stay most often to least often.  However we never, or almost never stay, at three of the options.

We never or almost never stay at membership parks, commercial RV Parks and owned or leased RV sites.

If there is a place to provide feed back to Escapees about this, please let me know.
