Tucsontech
We are planning the above mentioned trip in the next couple days and would appreciate any comments on this trip like : how are the roads, how long it may take driving slowly, any good places to camp or boondock along the way and any must see or must do items. Thanks Ahead of Time
rynosback
Did Mission to Big Bend last Spring. Roads were fine. How you would like to go from the two points is up to you on what you want to see and how much time you have. Below shows a couple of options provided by Apple Maps. I took the highlighted one. https://www.m109riders.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=381878&d=1549184174 As far as places to stay. It all depends on how far you travel a day. I use http://www.campgroundreviews.com to investigate campgrounds that I am considering. Driving slowly? What does this mean? 100 miles a day? 10 mph under the speed limit? Have you planned your trip or just looking to be given an itinerary? 2015 Ram 3500 RC DRW CTD AISIN 410 rear 2016 Mobile Suites 38RSB3
2gypsies
We found all Texas secondary roads to be a very good way to travel so you won't have any issues. Out of Big Bend (hope you're staing IN the park) take 385 out to Marathon then pick up 90 to Del Rio then 277/83 to Larado and 83 to Mission/Mcallen area. Leaving Mcallen take 77 north to Kingsville and on to Corpus Christi. I might add that staying in Port Aransas or Rockport is better than Corpus Christi and you can always do a day trip to Corpus for special things, if needed. Al F
Must see: -- Stop in Langtry at the TXDot visitor center. Spend 20-30 minutes to walk the nature trail (200-300yards) and look at all the plants from the Chihuahuan Desert. Also take a few more minutes to look at Judge Roy Bean's saloon and courthouse, Law-West-of-the-Pecos. -- Spend a couple of nights at Seminole Canyon State Park and take a guide hike to the pictographs. https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/seminole-canyon If you can plan your visit for Feb 9 or 23rd and can take a slow paced all day hike this is wonderful hike to the remote pictographs: https://tpwd.texas.gov/calendar/seminole-canyon/copy4_of_presa-canyon-all-day-guided-hike From Seminole Canyon to Mission would be a very long one day drive in an RV. Suggest stopping overnight along the way.
