Selling Vehicles out of state

Recommended Posts

OP has picked the right answer. But I just want to input my experience in New Jersey. I had an expired tag on a junk vehicle sitting in the back 40. Someone reported the tag number as a hit and run. police ran the tag an filled in the rest of the information. I got a ticket, went to court, charge dismissed. But, NJ suspended my license because I was driving with no insurance. It was a long headache to get things back to normal.  It is now law in NJ to return tags if not used.

Another time my friend advertised a $100 car as good condition. New owner sued because the front wheel ball joint failed. Friend lost and had to return the money. I now have a paper that states "as is where is" for the purchaser to sign.
