mr. cob
Howdy All, Left from the HDT rally site this morning and was pulling into Albuquerque New Mexico just as the sun was really low in the sky, driving west late in the day this time of year is always a problem but even more so when you have spent a lot of time taking years of neglect and tarnish off of the shiny bits on the front of your truck. While on this trip I have used the down time to work on the truck and have spent a lot of time polishing the aluminum that was grungy especially that big shell that encloses the radiator and covers most of the front of the Pete, well today as the sun went down that shiny shell darn near blinded me for about a half hour, yes I know a first world problem if ever there was one. I pulled into the local Walmart to camp for the night and when walking back to the trailer I noticed that it was sitting kinda funny and that the rear axle on the passenger side was not where it should be. I crawled under the trailer and found that the bolt that holds the rear of the leaf spring into the spring mount on the trailer was missing. The spring had moved up through the cardboard like stuff they use to seal the bottom of the trailer, other then that I didn't see any damage, tomorrow when its light I'll take a good look and see what needs to be done with luck I'll be able to find a good quality bolt and using the leveling jacks to lift the trailer I hope to be able to pull the spring back into position and replace the bolt. I really don't want to unload the Smart Car in a Walmart parking lot some idiot will probably drive into the ramps while they are deployed, that's all I would need so I am hoping to find a bolt within walking distance of where the truck and trailer are parked.. When I get home I can get the proper parts to do the job right.
