So Dave, as you said, " Result - #4 injector driver fails under high heat conditions then recovers when cooled down. "   Is that driver inside the ECM?  And is it more of a programming issue, not hardware?

The driver is inside the ecm. The exact failure report was - "*Typical Injector Timing Chip Failure Due To Age". The testing procedure was to hook the ECM up to a test fixture, place the ECM on a hot plate, heat it up and monitor for error codes. Once the error code appeared the driver chip was cooled down locally and error code went away.

A similar on the road test would have been to drive the truck until the error code was solid then pack the ECM with ice and see if the error code went away….. But much less precise.

Hmmmm... working on that now, all are a little low, 12.41,12.41, 12.42, and 12.41. going to charge them up one at and a time and check after sitting for awhile...

Dave

I bet it is your alternator. 12.40ish is to low. Should be 13.5 0r above.

Nope, alternator is fine, truck had just been sitting awhile with laptop gps etc plugged in and batts were a little low. Charged them individually and let them sit for 48 hrs, held 12.8v.
