" Is that driver inside the ECM? And is it more of a programming issue, not hardware? The driver is inside the ecm. The exact failure report was - "*Typical Injector Timing Chip Failure Due To Age". The testing procedure was to hook the ECM up to a test fixture, place the ECM on a hot plate, heat it up and monitor for error codes. Once the error code appeared the driver chip was cooled down locally and error code went away. A similar on the road test would have been to drive the truck until the error code was solid then pack the ECM with ice and see if the error code went away….. But much less precise. Nope, alternator is fine, truck had just been sitting awhile with laptop gps etc plugged in and batts were a little low. Charged them individually and let them sit for 48 hrs, held 12.8v.
