Big5er
FYI: I got this today when I went to work. Quote BOLO FOR A STOLEN SEMI TRACTOR TRUCK TEXAS LICENSE PLATE (LIC): XXXXXX (VIN): XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Vehicle Make: PTRB Vehicle Model: Not Available Vehicle Year: 2005 TRUCK WAS STOLEN FROM THE MCDONALDS PARKING LOT OVER NIGHT. For those that can't read shorthand, that is a 2005 Peterbilt. I'm telling you our PRE emission trucks are valuable...even if it is just for the engine to put into a new glider. You mentioned once before about an “anti-theft” system with a separate plug or key that would not allow the engine to start. Can’t remember the name. Big5er
Paul, I wouldn't leave my truck overnight in a McDonalds parking lot, much less my dog
Steve from SoCal
Somehow I don't think too many Volvo drivers need be concerned about that. Don't see Volvo's with kitty's. The ELD thing has raised the price of pre 2000 trucks though. Maybe the older Volvo's are "hot" somewhere? Naw, could you see any "respectable" outlaw trucker in a VOLVO!!!! Big5er
That's heartless Steve I'm gonna have to get a male dog and train him to look for YOUR tires before the next rally. Yeah, the ELD thing is making those 99 and older models have some value, but you can't hardly find a pre emissions engine to rebuild down here. Those junkyards are mighty proud of them wrecks. Alie&Jim's Carrilite
I'll have to remember that next time I'm in the Houston area... Maybe electrify the door handles or something that keeps people away....

It's only 300 to 350 hp and can barely get out of it's own way. After I saw your post....I had no idea about all these thefts. Big5er
Ben, I really don't know about specific models but they are stealing trucks all the time here. I don't know if it is my proximity to the border or what. I just know that it is common for drivers that want to sleep in a motel to come back to find their truck gone. HERO Maker
I remember Phil not letting me keep my truck at the local hotel when we overnighted for just one night while passing thru his area! Really appreciated his advice.
