Checking programs

Need some ideas/leads on some computer software.  This is for an HP laptop, Windows 10.  My mom is wanting a checking ledger for her computer.  One that lets her put in check numbers, amount written for, balance, addition of $$ on her deposits.  Basically, an electronic ledger.  I have offered to create one under Excel but she says no, it's to complicated for her.  She wants simple.  She is 80 and does not want to learn much about computers/software, just a basic, workable program.  Any Ideas?

ND,

She will soon want to interact with her bank, trust me. So I second Dennis' excellent advice but advise she get the newer version and pay to renew every three years. Cheaper than hiring someone to do it by snail mail and phone.

YouTube videos galore on it too. We use "Quicken Home And Business"

She's thinking about Quicken but I made one up under Excel she seems to like.  It will work until I can visit her in June then we will go over her options in person.  She is appx 1000 miles from me, hard to convince her of much long distance.

Again, thanks all.

Your idea of creating one with Excel is best. You can set one up and all she would have to do is open it up and do entries. Any one of those bookkeeping programs, Quicken etc. will be to complicated and cost to much. My grandchildren tell me that the check register is old fashion and they just look up their banks accounts on their cell phones. Good Luck

LOL, yea, my son is the same way.  Tells me I can do it all on the phone.  Says he can connect me to all my banks, credit cards, etc and set up all payments automatically.  I tell him thanks but no thanks.  Having all your info/credit/$$ connected in one place is asking for trouble in my opinion.

ND,

We do no banking on the cell phones, too vulnerable despite being kept patched by Motorola, one of the best after having a Pixel phone from Google. Samsung is rated the worst for keeping patgches for Android up to date for customers. We have only one computer here we connect with for banking, my wife's not mine. I do check our investments online but not by cell phone. She's our accountant. Our bank is the leader in remote banking and while we will send checks over our scanner to them, we use only our home computers that I control over our secure network here at home. We have a credit card we use and one ATM card as our bank refunds the first $15 of ATM charges per month and we rarely use an ATM either. We could be hacked at home but that's much less likely than what I am seeing daily about cell phone online security companies: https://www.bing.com/search?q=cell+phone+vulnerabilities&pc=MOZI&form=MOZLBR
