Vegas Teacher
Well next repair is a skid plate and mounting bracket, at least that is what I think it is called. When I call TEC / Volvo here in Vegas they said I was correct. So once again being the third owner on the tractor not fun but I will deal. I am more than willing to admit that I have a lot to learn however I did catch this in a pre-trip inspection I did. I notice there is a lot of movement in my truck when I hit the brakes, I just had all of my rear brakes and shocks done in October. So I start looking around the truck before I was going to take it out. I look under the hood and notice up front the mounting bracket on the skid plate on the drivers side, the bracket that attaches to the front of the truck is broken in to, two pieces. I called TEC / Volvo here in Vegas, I told them what was wrong, new part(s) 285.00 Labor would be about 2 hours at 125.00 per hour. I am guessing about 700.00 after it is all said and done because nothing is as it seems. Yes it would be 535.00 but nothing goes as planned for me ever. I am also trying to get in touch with local welders, if they can jack the front of the truck up and get the two pieces to match up that would be even better and probably a lot less money. If anybody out there knows of a shop in Vegas or a person who will mobile welder that does good work, let me know. Now remember my posting about the sectional being redone a few weeks ago..... My wife did not even bat an eye in her words - It could be a lot worse but first we have to pay taxes. I am learning slowly from all of you guys on the forum now. Later, Cory O - Vegas Teacher. I did post about a good shop in Butte, MT, about Nov. Last person I remember posting on a good mobile mech, in Vegas, was Cory O. I'm still trying to figure out the skidplate he's talking about. I have been wrong before, I'll probably be wrong again. 2000 Kenworth T 2000 w/N-14 and 10 speed Gen1 Autoshift, deck built by Star Fabrication 2006 smart fourtwo cdi cabriolet 2007 32.5' Fleetwood QuantumPlease e-mail us here. The mobile mechanic I use does not weld, which is kind of a pain.
