Kirk W
Our first resident volunteer position was at Torro Regional Park and it went well enough that we have now had more than 30 tours as resident RV volunteers in other places! The only thing that I would caution folks about is that unless things have changed, volunteers do clean public restrooms at times. When we were there it was once each week at Torro. Torro is in a great location for visiting the central CA coastal areas. I'll not comment on the staff there since we were there more than 15 years ago and likely most of the employees are different today, but they were an easy bunch to like. Jack is perhaps one of the most unique parks we have ever seen.! The limited electricity could be a negative for many but if you have solar it might not be an issue. It could be interesting getting some of the largest RVs up into the park unless the roads have been improved.
missourijan
Thanks Kirk, for your comments. We are at Toro park now. They have the hosts clean bathrooms only if they WANT to. I agree on the comment about Jack's Peak, there is a host there now that's leaving and he has a motorhome about 35' (guessing). Not that much usage by the public, pretty quiet over there. The atmosphere is laid back and all hosts are friendly. Toro gets busy in the summer, it's a day use only park, lots of picnics and hikers. Kirk W
Sounds like not a lot has changed. Royal Oaks is OK but liked Toro better. There were also hosts at Laguna Seca when we were there as well as at Lake San Antonio.
missourijan
Laguna Seca still has hosts, however they are managed by a concessionaire now. Lake San Antonio and Lake Naciemento also have hosts, though someone else handles that for south Monterey County.
