Av8r3400
We are getting ready to hit the road to Airventure. Well, the DW is going to hit the road, I'll take the "alternate" method of transport. The HDT is working out excellent for us and I couldn't be happier with the decision. Since I usually can't leave well enough alone, I've been toying with ideas how to build a motorcycle loader for the truck. I don't want to put a car on the back but my motorcycle might be an intriguing option. I'm looking at the operation of the Phoenix Bed and loaders like the Triple D Motorcycle lift. Maybe even a scaled down version of a hook lift, mounted side saddle... If you load a motorcycle, how do you do it? I agree. But it does serve as inspiration. I'm leaning more on building something like a small hook lift, as I referenced in my original post. noteven
I use an AmeriDeck in a wonton. It would work off the side but would need some figgering to work with the higher lift to the hdt. Nice to tie down the bikes walking around them on the ground. "Are we there yet?" asked no motorcycle rider, ever.
Jack Mayer
I've seen several hooklift homebuilt versions for a MC. They seem to work well. I'll have to see if I can find more detail on that......I'd bet Henry has some info. Jack & Danielle Mayer #60376 Lifetime Member Living on the road since 2000PLEASE no PM's. Sculptor
AV8R, what was your final trailer lights and brakes configuration? I got the DirectLink part, but I wonder if you are trouble free? I read newer Volvos might have fault codes caused by the Directlink. your truck is a 2012 or 2013? I assume you are home from the airshow, I hope all went well!! Av8r3400
Lights and direct link work flawlessly. Lights I had to figure out the colors for my trailer, but after that it's all good. For the record the running light lead was long enough to reach the ICC post in the Jackalopee.
