Kiltedpig
I get it that you need internet to put in routes etc. but what happens when you leave internet service? Does the screen go blank, is your route still available to refer to or do you need to print the route? When you are on the road you don't always have internet when you are moving. Looks like I need to be using my data on the cell phone to make this work correctly since I don't have cell on iPad or laptop
Pappy Yokum
See the - "Internet Access on the Road" forum (here). Suggest moving your question/s over there.......and - On that forum - check out AT&T Mobley thread/s.(Mobile hot spot) - "$20 a month Standalone Unlimited AT&T Hotspot plan" - unlimited data. It's "intended" to be used in a '96 or newer vehicle, connected via the OBDII port - although there are converters to use with 110V in RV or home. Of course you could be in an area with no cell service - but since you would be going down the road, seems that situation would be resolved. . jblscooper
You don't need internet for routes, Download CoPilot for laptops. Once you install, you can plan routes and use the GPS receiver connected to laptop, no internet needed.
rdickinson
Or get a Verizon Wi-Fi hot spot.
jblscooper
But a hot spot won't help if you are using it to monitor the route, got to have a GPS for real time route poop.
