MsChrissi
Well yes, at least a rod though them but still welds pull (then fun ensues getting rod out!)

Part of that "manufacturing magic" one develops over the years of producing "something", Yes, jigs, but also concurrent drilling of parts, developing the sequence of welds and checking alignment at different stages. The last step, jigging and welding in the bushings after things cooled and settled in. I'm within few thousands when done which is remarkable on something this heavy and with that much welding. Another part of "manufacturing magic" is knowing where high accuracy is critical and where it is not and can you get away with relative accuracy vs. absolute accuracy. This is kind of a "lost art" in the days of CNC and 5 axis milling, where everything can be built to within thousands of absolute accuracy, FOR A PRICE.
