heavyduty
What is you guys thoughts of air ride suspension on the front. I have had a truck with it and loved the ride but it had a little wandering on certain roads. Was always correcting the steering. Thanks for any comments. SuiteSuccess
I have the Hendrickson air ride on my truck and think it drives fine. Unfortunately have never driven one without air ride to compare so my opinion may not be valid.
GlennWest
I also have the Hendrickson air ride front end and mine will wander with road ruts. Had 4 wheel alignment, king pin bushings replaced, everything declared good at front end shop.
GeorgiaHybrid
Carl, I went with a spring front after listening to scrap. With our higher center of gravity due to drom boxes, beds and smart cars, it helps in the rocking of the cab and the suspension on the truck. You can take mine out for a spin soon to see if you think it helps.
SuiteSuccess
Thanks Dave. Do I have to bring it back?

hone eagle
Air does cause wallowing some, Ive had truckers come up and say nice truck but I get seasick driving them. As a long time sailor I say bunch of wussies, feels like lake Erie to me - comforting.
KWT660HDT
I think front air ride is awesome. Not sure what kind I have on mine I'd guess it's a Paccar setup it has 2 bags on each side and it tracks perfect off highway.

GeorgiaHybrid
Maybe we should add a bag. I was thinking more along the lines of "you should have bought a Kenworth" ?
KWT660HDT
Maybe we should add a bag. Might help especially if you have the type where the bag is in line with the shock On mine there's a bag on each side of the shock . They say it was for the disc brakes they needed 4 bags but it sure seems to help it track good on the rough http://m.truckinginfo.com/article/163025/new-kenworth-ag130-front-air-suspension-now-available-for-order
crazybanshee
Love the ride on my truck. Stock Volvo air front end. With the roads being as bad as they are the truck rides smooth over most obstacles.
GlennWest
Mine is smooth. Just ruts in road effects it

Alie&Jim's Carrilite
There is an aftermarket company that makes dampening controls for air bag suspension. http://www.donvel.com/ There is a forum member that is using the seat and cab controls and has said it works to smooth the ride. Jack Mayer
I found that the front air ride on my previous 780 improved the ride significantly. It did make the truck seem to "float" more from a handling input perspective. But it is something you get used to fast. It is a tradeoff, for sure. My new truck does not have front air ride. I had to replace the cab airbags and shocks because the cab was wallowing all over the place. So if you have that wallowing feeling perhaps you need cab suspension work....not axle suspension. And, BTW, if you like more "sports car" like road input then take a close look at the Kenworths, because the feel is totally different than a Volvo. GlennWest
I did replace cab shocks and bags. It did help. Some is still in it though. My ride is awesome. I may just need to get use to it. Not logged many miles
