mbsnow
We are preparing to begin full time RV living at the end of March '17. We are liquidating just about all household goods but planning to put into storage some things that cannot be replaced if we decide to go stick and brick again. Do any of the companies that insure RVs and vehicles for full timers offer insurance that would cover items in a personal storage facility? Has anyone on the forum found a company they would recommend? Thanks in advance
Velos
Here is a site to get quotes on self storage insurance: https://quotewizard.com/renters-insurance/insurance-and-storage-units Many of the larger chains offer separate storage insurance when you rent a storage unit. If you will still own a home it may be covered under your homeowners insurance. You may want to pencil out the monthly cost of a storage unit and the cost of insurance from the quote above. Thanks in advance If you qualify for USAA insurance services you can get personal property insurance that covers your goods wherever they are. Since it is aimed at active and retired military they are used to people having goods all over the world. That means you can take things out of storage and replace them with other things without having to jump through any extra hoops although it is always a good idea to keep track of which things are where. LFDR3116
I don't remember for sure, but I'm pretty sure that question was asked of us and coverage for a storage unit offered thru our full-time rv policy with Progressive when we started it in S. Dakota. Different states may not offer it, but good to ask if you consider getting a quote from them.
mbsnow
Thank you all for your replies.USAA would be the perfect solution as they offer coverage for items all the other companies exclude - and the type of items we plan to store. soos
we originally had separate insurance for our storage unit (the storage facility required insurance) and later changed it to a rider policy on our full timers policy. it was much cheaper that way.
