Howdy All,

I'll be going to the annual Ural gathering again this year just outside of Moab Utah, I have in the past stayed at Archview camp ground which is about 6 miles or so north of Moab on Hwy191. Archway is a nice camp ground but its been taken over by some big conglomerate and its rates have doubled in the last two years, that being the case I have considered boondocking while attending this years event as about the only time I spend in camp is to sleep. I know a lot of folks boondock off of Willow Rd, which is about a mile or so north of Archview.

Any advise will be appreciated, I'll be in the Moab area between April 23rd and the 29th this year.

Ken's Lake is nice, we've stayed there- there is an overflow area south of the main campground (other side of the entry road) that they will let you stay in for half price that may have more room for a big rig.

For true boondocking there is much more open space north of town (on the east side of the highway). Pretty much any graded dirt/gravel will take you to suitable camping locations (if they aren't already occupied). There's all kinds of dispersed camping up there, and some of the roads are pretty decent because they were graded out for the oil/gas exploration activities.

Howdy pugsly,

Thanks for your reply. Willows Road is just north of the camp ground where many of the Uralista's will be staying, I have done a google earth recon of the area, if the roads are decent when I get there after doing an on the ground recon with the Ural if I find a good spot I think I'll be boondocking there.

We boondocked with large rigs north of town . Should be plenty of room for you. Just south of the airport you will go into a lowspot in the hiway and you will see a dirt road in that dip going west. Follow that road around till you go past a parking lot for viewing dino tracks and you will come to a good sized staging area. We stayed there for about 10 days. 4 of us all with large rigs circled up with plenty of more room.

Howdy Jim,

Thanks for your reply, I'll add this to my list of places to check out.
