Velos
I have been using Ifranview since I first heard about it at an Escapade seminar many years ago. I don't use it that often but when I need to scan a document to PDF it has worked great. I currently need to scan several pages to create one PDF document and may need to add additional pages. Currently Ifranview only scans a page at at a time per document so when I need to upload a multipage document each page of the single document is a separate page or attachment etc. Since I don't do this very often I didn't really want to buy software as it would probably be out of date by the next time I need to use it. I hope this makes sense? My experience with PDF documents is very slim. Any suggestions for software to create multi-page PDF documents? Chad Heiser
I use Wondershare PDF element. It is pretty simple to use. It allows you to edit existing PDF's as well as create new ones. I had multiple scanned documents I wanted to turn into a single document and this software handled it quickly and easily. I don't use it very often, but when I need it it is great to have. https://pdf.wondershare.com/?utm_source=wscom&utm_campaign=pewin5.11&utm_medium=home-banner The software is not that expensive, but they have a free trial version you can download to see if it will work for you before you buy it. 2009 Volvo 670 with dinette/workstation sleeper - Walter 2017 DRV Mobile Suite 40KSSB4 with factory mods, dealer mods and personal mods - now in the RV graveyard 2022 DRV Full House MX450 with customized floor plan 2018 Polaris RZR Turbo S (fits in the garage) 2016 Smart Car (fits in the garage or gets flat towed behind the DRV when the RZR is in the garage) My First Solar Install Thread My Second Solar Install Thread & Photos and Documents Related to the build My MX450's solar, battery and inverter system - my biggest system yet! chadheiser.com West Coast HDT Rally Website

RV_
I use a brother all in one scanner printer copier and I can output as PDF and scan multiple pages into one PDF doc. You could also go another way and use your word processor. I just tested a word document and when I went to save it I selected PDF under type of file which is just under the document name. Of course once it is a pdf file you can't open it in word but you can from "File Explorer." You can do the same with Libre office writer. Since once it is a pdf you will not be able to edit it, just save two copies each time you make a change and delete the old ones. For example, for a doc named apples, save one normally as a Word or Libre Office Writer doc, and then select save as pdf which will leave your original/last version as a doc and a new pdf Delete the old pdf or deal with numbering each revision. Try it now. Just open your processor, type test in a new doc, let it name it test and under that for type select pdf. Then using File explorer go to the folder you saved the pdf in and open it from there. You can open both Word and pdf files from the file explorer. Try it, you'll like it. Using your word processor and keeping the last text copy, you can open the text copy and edit any time, and then save it. After checking that it is there and you can find it again you can delete the original. Normally you can let the processor name it #2 automagically, or if that isn't working, manually just add a "2" after the name. So test.docx becomes test2.docx. Velos
I went with Ice Cream PDF Split and Merge http://icecreamapps.com/PDF-Split-and-Merge/ Since I don't use it that often the free edition 3 page limit for merging is OK. I used Ifranview to bulk scan the multi page document then I use Cream PDF to put them all in one document. Went very smoothly.
RV_
Great! Glad you got it resolved. My wife just had to do that yesterday for a 10 page set of investment instructions and change docs. I walked her through scanning the docs with auto feed on our brother laser Printer/scanner/copier after changing the output from my default .jpg output for scanning pics, to a .pdf output. One step. I bet your scanner has that too unless it is very old. What OS are you using? A version of Windows, OSX, LInux? And what brand and model is your scanner? Mine is a five year old Brother DCP-7065DN laser. But my old HP color inkjets had the same pdf output settings. I stopped using specialized third party pdf software several years ago. Adobe is also banned from all my systems save for Flash which gets updated by Microsoft now. When I use the touch menu on the printer to scan after I have loaded the documents in the feeder it says preparing to scan then say the connection to the computer has been lost. Tried a couple of times with the same result? Though it is a wireless printer my computer is connected via USB cable and prints fine. DH is in another room and prints wireless. So not sure why it is not working. Will check further as scanning a multi page document directly to a single document on my computer from my printer would be very convenient. Thank you for the suggestion.
RV_
I found a really promising video for you on resolving scan problems here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-OfficeJet-5740-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/6617253/model/6670061/videos Here are a bunch of results for scanning: http://www.bing.com/search?q=scanning+with+a+HP+Office-jet+5746&src=IE-SearchBox&FORM=IENTSR&pc=EUPP_ It also said this "If you choose to connect to a single PC via USB cable, rather than to a network, you won't be able to use the print apps or print through the cloud. However, the printer's Wi-Fi Direct support will still let you connect and print from a mobile device." that here: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/ My last HP inkjet all in one had Ethernet too, as well as USB. I just set each computer tablet up in the printer software installed on each as a network printer and plugged an Ethernet cable between the router and the printer only. Then I installed the complete software suite on each computer device setting each up as a network printer in the software, finding the printer and then finishing. I have Brother now and even my Android phones print via Brother print app and all my computers are connected to our high speed network router and all connect and print perfectly wirelessly. My Windows tablets as well as our Android. Bear in mind that is a decent network printer. It may be time to go laser unless you have a real need for color. We dropped the inkjet HPs, bought a Brother DCP-7065DN new for $84.99 shipped from Newegg, and have used two Brother toner cartridges in three years. Those are aftermarket Rosewill brand toner cartridges through Newegg. I bought them on sale for 10 bucks each. It cost me 50 bucks a year, at least, to buy that dang inkjet HP we had. If I want hard copies of pics I can have them printed at Walmart's or Office depot any time for less than maintaining a color ink printer. I now use cheapo USB 2.0 to send Pictures in the mail. They are faster than Disks and easier to mail. And once they have them on their drive they can reuse them too: https://www.amazon.com/ARETOP-Swivel-Design-Memory-Colors/dp/B00L0VFR1K/ref=sr_1_15?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486164919&sr=1-15&keywords=4GB+10+pack+USB+flash+drive&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin%3A1259713011%2Cp_72%3A1248879011%2Cp_n_condition-type%3A2224371011 Here are other guaranteed and customer high rated toner cartridges for my printer, two for $15.99 shipped! https://www.amazon.com/Cartridges-Compatible-Brother-HL-2130-HL-2132/dp/B00NU60F2Y/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1486161904&sr=8-6&keywords=brother+dcp-7065dn In any event I would uninstall and reinstall the full software suite on each device you want to print from except for smart phones. Not just the drivers which give minimal functionality, the full software. Here are the same toner cartridges with almost 100% satisfaction. Here is one for $99 at Office Depot almost identical to mine. Mine does not have wireless itself just networking with a Ethernet cable between it and my router, which then provides wireless printing from any device with the Brother software suite loaded or app on phones and Android tablets/iPads. http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/700674/Brother-Wireless-Monochrome-Laser-Printer-Copier/ The below snip capture shows the pdf output in the Brother printer software for scanning. RV_
Great! I can do up to however many originals I can stack in the auto feeder up top of mine to a single pdf. I think 30 pages or 50? Much easier directly as you said. Glad to help RV/Derekhttp://www.rvroadie.com Email on the bottom of my website page.Retired AF 1971-1998 When you see a worthy man, endeavor to emulate him.
