SWharton
Our vinyl flooring has "stretched" by our table. It is probably from the sliding of the chairs(our guess). We originally thought there was an air bubble in the vinyl but a repair guy said it had been stretched. Does anyone know of a way for us to fix this? Would like a DIY way. We have thought of heating the vinyl with a hair dryer but researching on the internet that doesn't seem to be the solution. Thanks
Kirk W
All that I know of would be replacing it. My suspicion is that the floor covering was not properly glued to the substrate. Pat & Pete
I'd likely try the heat . You have to do something . Always try the easiest first . There is the cut , lap and cut option , but that doesn't always turn out nice either . Consider replacing that section . Maybe with something different . Goes around , comes around . lasttruck
Our stretched, floating vinyl flooring bubble was repaired by a flooring guy (sent by the factory under warranty). He used a heat gun on low (said hair dryer would work) and barely got the flooring warm and then smoothed the flooring back into place. He did inject some Gorilla glue thru a small razor slit (that disappeared) to hold down what wanted to pop back up. Looks great over a year later. lasttruck
p.s. He also mentioned to not let anyone tip their chairs back and not to slide anything heavy on floating vinyl floors. SWharton
OK, all great info. We will try the hair dryer and also get larger glides for the chairs. We are out of warranty so this will probably be on our dime. I'll take some pictures for the record first. We didn't want to do anything and make it worse.
