brunsje
Folks, Would you share the best 'big rig' route. It appears there are several options with and without tolls. We are heading to Cherry Hill RV Park, a favorite campground close to DC. Thanks, JohnnyB
dblr
Have you looked at Route 70 thru Ohio to 79 in Pa then south thru Md and pick up 70 towards DC & Baltimore then there are a few different routes from 70 that would take you towards Cherry Hill. 270 to 495 around the loop or 70 to 95 south( longer) plus there is a connector route from 270 to 95 that would work great but is a toll road that only excepts EZ Pass. Good luck and safe travels what ever route you choose
somewhereinusa
What dblr said, only take I79 to I68 across MD to pick up I70 again, I68 may be a bit less steep and it's not toll. I've done it many times in a semi. Dick

docj
there is a connector route from 270 to 95 that would work great but is a toll road that only excepts EZ Pass. The Intercounty Connector Toll Road does accept toll by video if you don't have an EZPass. Yes, it costs a bit more that way but the road bypasses some of the worst sections of the Capital Beltway. http://www.mdta.maryland.gov/icc/toll_rates.html

You are right it is a great route which I used many times to go from Laurel to Gaithersburg, I would use it in my own if needed.
nana25k
We travel to DC all the time and we have towed a 5tb wheel and now the MH. I79 to I68 to 70 then 270 to the beltway. We just power thru, time it if possible to avoid "rush" hour". But I don't get excited about the traffic either There are a couple climbs Cheat Mt out of Morgantown and a few long grades but better than the turnpike for sure
nana25k
Also no adequate fuel stops on 79 south but there is a sweet easy place east of Morgantown at Bruceton Mills. Called Sandy's
