Howdy All,

The internet is full of web sites that show you or calculate the quickest way to get from one place to another, has anyone found a web page that helps to find and calculate the scenic routes between destinations? Thanks for any help or links you can offer.

You mention the word 'calculate' so I assume you're looking for a GPS mapping program.

First, not all scenic routes are RV-friendly so you'd have to research that item. We always tried to travel secondary roads including scenic routes so when we found how we wanted to go we use the Delorme Street Atlas program. We click on our beginning point and ending point and put a via on the road(s) we want to take and it calculates for us.

Howdy All,

Thanks for the replies. I have used Garmin GPS for years, am now using the 760RV unit in the HDT, and have been using AAA maps for years as they have many of the more scenic routes marked on them. A couple of times I have found myself on a road where at 68 feet long its been a bit of a challenge but have yet to get myself into a situation that careful driving couldn't get me out of. That said it would be nice to have a routing option other then "fastest" or "shortest" would be nice be it on a GPS or a mapping site such as google or the many others that will give you a calculated route between destinations.

It's not really what you are asking for, but something I use is Google Earth. I turn on the embedded photos and highways. The user uploaded photos show on the map as icons. You will see many photos at photogenic locations and strings of photos along scenic roads that people took photos along. You can click on the icons and see the photos.

Kirk's link worked for me on the Federal Highways program.

Also these.....but be careful to make sure the route is suitable for YOUR rv before heading out.
