Vladimir
IF you are traveling you REALLY need to click on this link: http://oss.weathershare.org/?Center=43.00%2C-121.0&Zoom=8&Layers=CCTV%2Ctraffic#.Vx-ar_llDIX This site has ALL travel information on one map. This includes web cams, those yellow electronic traffic signs, accidents, remote weather stations located on roads, road construction information and associated traffic delays, google traffic counts, and even mountain passes that have chain requirements. It is a very well designed site. When you hover over a web cam it pops up so you do not have to leave the current screen. Likewise for the other road information. This is probably the handiest road site I have ever seen. NO advertising...the website is a .org site. Not sure who runs it, but hopefully they will continue to maintain it!!! Should kill the thread I started on the Nationalwide travel site.....

brunsje
Looks fantastic! I can't find a way to tell the site where my location is? Am I limited to dragging the map to my location? JohnnyB
Vladimir
On the upper left side of the screen you can download a users manual. I did find out that CalTrans, and Federal Highways Administration are involved in the project. So it really should say... dot. GOV rather than dot. ORG. There is a survey monkey form that you can fill out. I would encourage you to do this. Particularly important to note how valuable the site is to you as a traveler. Having worked for the FEDS information gets the short end of the stick in many agencies. But for the traveler, in adverse, travel conditions it is real important. I am only five minutes ahead of you guys on using the site. When I first saw....it didn't take long to determine that it was a important site for folks to know about...so I posted the link. I would like to see comments from people using the site. On the survey monkey site, they did as for ideas for additional layers. The only one I could think of was National Weather Service warnings. Overlay, their map on the site that you can turn on and off.
