TedandRicky
We hope to head South from Austin and hope to find a place to camp this Thursday and Friday (March 17-18). Everything we can find is booked full (spring break). Any suggestions? Dry camping would be fine. Thanks!

grumpydoc
If you decide to camp on the beach be very sure you know when the high tides will occur. We are currently having very high high tides reaching almost all the way to the dunes. Several campers parked near the water at low tide have been stuck in the wet sand and water at high tide and it is expensive to be pulled out. Unfortunately the sand near the dunes tends to be soft and not packed down by the vehicular traffic and it can also be a a place where you can get stuck. Many people do camp on the beaches here at Mustang Island and have a good time but you do have to be careful about what you do. Also be aware that traffic can get very congested here on the island on the weekends of Spring Beak especially in the afternoon and evening hours. Best Wishes from Port Aransas, Jay
