Microsoft supports more handsets in Windows 10 Mobile Build 10586.122

It appears that we will see Windows 10 on our phones after all. This is terrific news for me as I am all Microsoft, phones, tablets, and computers. I am reading that they are also going to have a new phone line called Surface phones and the interoperability will finally happen. Best Guess this time? Within the next two months. (Just a guess folks, just a guess)

"Microsoft has taken back control of most of the deployment of Windows 10 software from the carriers, in a bid to push new technology out to customers without the months of testing that those carriers would sometime impose.

 

The first Redstone update will be mostly focused on apps, store, and Continuum improvements, as these are becoming Microsoft's priorities for all Windows 10 devices.

 

Why this matters: Although the market share of Windows phones continues to shrink, it's nice to see Microsoft still going the extra mile for the customers who are willing to help push Windows 10 Mobile development forward.

 

Windows Phone owners are getting frustrated over the long lag between the news updates and its availability. Reports indicate that the first set of Lumia smartphones which will receive the update are: The Lumia 430, Lumia 435, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, 1 GB RAM model of Lumia 634, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830 and Lumia 930."

Gave the GD a Sandisk 64GB micro SD card for her Lumia 640 so she could carry more stuff and have lots of room for the update. Did you ever add a SD card's to your 735's? I wish the 640 was available on Verizon, but it is not only the 735.

Yes I installed 64GB Micro SDXC cards in both of our 735s. No problems. I pre-loaded my card in my computer with my ripped music to mp3. I adjusted the amount of music until I had about 1 GB less music than the capacity of the disk. That gave it enough space to load anything els I might need to.

 

You will need to leave it plugged in and on your selected music player as you will see it seemingly non-stop update the SD Card contents until it has indexed it all. That has taken a couple of hours with each of my phones. But from then on it is fast. I am going to have to return mine as the Bluetooth is flaky and cuts in and out. But if I connect the 3.5mm cable from the headphone jack to the radio input jack it plays perfectly so I know it is not the Card or copied music at fault. I am within warranty and just hate to have to do the whole setup again. I will try the backup and restore as I already backup my phones but have no idea if they restore to a new phone of the same type.

 

My wife's 735 has no issues.
