SpaceNorman
All depends on the situation. Most of the time - I go with my standard "IT Nerd" persona (which happens to be the truth). However I'm not above embellishing it to the point of ridiculous if my "bullsh!t" meter is being sent off the charts by an RV park neighbor. Those moments can make for a little fun too! ;-) The Spacenorman 2012 Holiday Rambler Endeavor 43' DFT 2012 Jeep Liberty Our Travel Website: www.penquinhead.com
defboater
This is an interesting and personal subject to me. Hubby is newly retired and I am a bit younger and Do plan on going back to work somehow someplace. It has really been uncomfortable for me with these questions. I just avoid and change the subject so far. I guess we are on his 'retirement' trip as we are fulltimers having sold the house and live FT in our FW. Personally, I am having a difficult time with not working but that being said, I usually say I'm looking forward to getting back to work when I can. 2008 Carriage Cameo F31KS3 Mor Ryde Ford F350 diesel 4x4 traveling with our pretty kitty
PauHanaTravels
We hear this question all the time. We are both 43 and have been blessed to call ourselves retired for the past 3 & 6 years. Some times we embellish the truth but other times I just say how it is. Most folks think it's great we can get out and see the world while we are young enough to enjoy it. I wouldn't trade it for anything, the lessons we learn while traveling. I know someday we will come home and enjoy our brick and sticks home when we can no longer handle the road but that is a ways down the road. When we are home we do a lot of volunteering in our Community and use our skills to improve our community. I've also started blogging our travels so it gives me something to do when we travel. I've tried to work for myself because I felt like I needed a job as I felt guilty for being retired at 38 but it wasn't worth it to me when it wasn't necessary. I'd rather work for free with volunteering and getting paid in smiles and thank yous. You might find it fun and satisfying to try your hand at the RV volunteer lifestyle. There are many places that supply an RV site and utilities in return for a few days per week of work and often the work is educational, enjoyable, as well as very satisfying. If you think you might be interested in giving it a try, you are invited to visit our website history of our travels as live-on volunteers. We travel with business cards that list our business as "Professional Volunteers." Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... American Roatrip
As a fulltimer, what's your answer when people ask your profession? Been on the road since July and tried on various answers. None of them feel right to me. It's a question I don't ask, and really don't get asked much. Since I am in my 40's and my wife is 30, people always assume we don't have the means to travel long and will say,"Enjoy it while you can, " or "You're going to do it until the money runs out." Travelers are usually more interested in talking about places and experiences. With most people it doesn't matter what you do or did, and we all seem to be on the same level. I asked people that question a lot when I worked as a barber to make conversation, but generally don't on the road unless it is something that they seem like they want to share. Sometimes I say I am a writer, other times I just say I'm looking for my nitche. pavlovamericanroadtrip.blogspot.com

Bill LeMosy
When I'm asked what I did for a living, I’m likely to respond that I was an Evangelist for OFOB. “What’s that?” they ask. “Old Farts on Bicycles,” say I. AwesomeSauceDuo
It depends on my mood and the company, but lately... - Senior weather rock inspector. (I travel to random remote locations across the U.S. to ensure the local weather rock is in place, functioning properly, and repair as needed.) This is the greatest thing I have ever read. I might have to "borrow" this line. I'll be a Junior Weather Rock Inspector.
