Nigel
Would someone be kind enough to post a picture or drawing of a draw bar similar to the one Toterman used. I can't seem to find it in the forum and I know I've seen a picture before. My car was rear ended and my trailer hitch is trash so time for something better. SuiteSuccess
Nigel, Don't have a picture but will try to get you one next week when I get to truck if my memory doesn't fail me. I can describe it though. Just two inch (1/4" thick )tubing. Cut slots in one side toward each end large enough for stock Smart eye bolts to slip into. Drill 1/2" holes through and through at 90 degree angle to slots Drop pins through these holes and through eyes of Smart bolts. Multiple ways to connect winch cable. Can use a "solid eye" bolt at appropriate place along tubing. Note to use this tubing you will need either two Smart eye bolts or equivalent. 2006 Volvo 780 "Hoss" Volvo D12, 465hp, 1650 ft/lbs tq., ultrashift Bed Build by "JW Morgan's Custom Welding" 2017 DRV 39DBRS3 2013 Smart Passion Coupe "Itty Bitty" "Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. Nigel
Thanks Suite. It makes sense now. I knew he had a quick way of taking it off and on. I know where I can get another tow eye cheap. 2006 Volvo VNL 430, 2006 smart cabrio cdi, 2000 Triple E Topaz 30'

Darryl&Rita
Not quite what you're thinking, but I'll throw it out there for consideration. The advantages to this system are reduced size of the metal carried, no need for a pulley riser to prevent rubbing, ability to use the winch for other purposes, and better portability. I have been wrong before, I'll probably be wrong again. 2000 Kenworth T 2000 w/N-14 and 10 speed Gen1 Autoshift, deck built by Star Fabrication 2006 smart fourtwo cdi cabriolet 2007 32.5' Fleetwood QuantumPlease e-mail us here. Nigel
Thanks Darryl. That is exactly what Suite was describing without the winch. Nigel 2006 Volvo VNL 430, 2006 smart cabrio cdi, 2000 Triple E Topaz 30'

Big5er
So do the eye bolts stay in or do you unscrew them and take them out each time? rdickinson
In my case the bumper stays on with Larry's metric bolts, the winch n snatch block are in the rt side storage and the A frame is kept in the passengers storage box under the sleeper. Nigel
Phil I think you could either. I know from screwing my one eye bolt in it is not flat when tight. So to leave it in I would have to tighten when bar removed and loosen to use. Probably just as easy to take the ten seconds and take them off and toss in the compartment with the bar. If someone decided to remove them for you while shopping that could ruin your day. Nigel You could use a backup nut to set it to the correct angle and it would stay tight, not theft proof but stays with the car. Roger

Roger Yeah, I was thinking a thin washer to get the eye in the proper position, then a dab of Loc-Tite. I wouldn't think these eyes would be a high theft item, except at a rally................ Darryl&Rita
We pull the 2 eye bolts. Takes but a second. Ours also don't sit flat when tight. Bigtrailer
Those eye bolts sticking out would really make ya overwidth even more than we already are. 102 inches in the USA is max width. We are all pushing the envelope. Bill
rdickinson
There is more than one reasonably capable forum member here with access to a CNC lathe, why not make some. 2 parts, one threads into the back of the car and the second has the ring. This picture is as close as I can get but you get the idea.
