Big5er
Yesterday about noonish, I saw a red HDT that looked a lot like Suite Success, but I know it wasn't. Was a tandem, red volvo with the stainless toolbox doors behind the axles, like Carl's. They had a small black car loaded from the rear/ They were westbound on 20, just inside Texas, coming from Louisiana. I was eastbound heading to Louisiana when I saw them. Any one here?? Carl, is there a twin out there???
SuiteSuccess
I have a doppelgänger? Neat. No I'm sitting at the rally. Wish you could have got a pic.
Phil D
They are neighbors of ours down here, Big5er. I don't believe that he has ever posted here. They overnighted in Shreveport last night and arrived here this evening.

Phil D
I'll see if they'll allow me to get you a picture or two of their truck, SuiteSuccess. Assuming that they're okay with me taking the pictures, if they will allow it, I'll post them here. If not, I'll PM them to you. After I replied to Big5er about it and went to bed, I realized that I'd omitted a couple of things from my post. 1) I had the timeline wrong. They were in Shreveport on Tuesday night, stayed somewhere else on Wednesday, and arrived yesterday evening. Not even the best 780 (or any other rig, for that matter) can make it from Shreveport to Mission in a reasonable driving day. He'd originally intended on a three day trip, but then drove short days on Wednesday and Thursday, probably to get his timing right for going through Houston. Houston is such a horrendous place to get through that the timing of that portion of the trip through can have an effect on how you drive on a day or two either side of it. As in this case, that's true even when Phil is known to be out of town. 2) To add to the "doppelganger" angle, like you, our neighbors and their rig are also Tennesseeans. When they're not Winter Texans, they live somewhere around Cleveland.
SuiteSuccess
Cleveland is less than an hour from us. Maybe we'll meet up someday. Would love to invite them to ECR.
Phil D
Cleveland is less than an hour from us. Maybe we'll meet up someday. Would love to invite them to ECR. I'm not sure that they leave here early enough to make the ECR, but I'll mention it to him when I talk to him about the pictures. What are the dates for next year's Rally? Phil D
I have your pictures, and he has no objection to my posting links to them. But, as occasionally happens, my phone and my PC aren't on speaking terms today, so I can't easily get them to where I can post links to them for you -- but they're coming. I mentioned the ECR to him and he's seriously considering attending. They intend to return home in late March, so an early April rally is "doable". He also mentioned that they attended one ECR several years ago, in Virginia.

Phil D
Suite, I've been able to make OneDrive links work in a PM once, but they're not working here on the board. Please PM me your address, and I'll email the pictures of their truck to you. My apologies to others that would have liked to see the pics of this rig, but for some reason, it's just not happening. Phil D
You're right, Stekay. I usually have pretty good luck making things work -- even on the quirky software on which these Forums run -- but for some reason the IP Board software isn't liking the links that OneDrive is creating for embedding today. Email links work, though, so I've emailed myself a link to my own pics, then inserted it here. For some reason, that works. Here you go, Suite: https://onedrive.live.com/?id=D48A448831DA651%2130813&cid=0D48A448831DA651&group=0&parId=D48A448831DA651%21149&authkey=%21&o=OneUp There are three consecutive pictures of the truck. There are other picture and video files in that folder that don't pertain to this discussion.
SuiteSuccess
Thanks Phil. Looks like it might be a USXpress like mine and gotta love the Tennessee plate.
RickW
Looks like USXpress red to me, same as mine. How much frame did he add? I have 6' and that looks like much more overhang past the rear axle than I have. Could be the camera angle but looks close to 8' if I had to guess. Phil D
It's a long one, Rick. I don't know the length -- I'll try to remember to ask him when I see him next -- but his body is designed to accommodate a Scion, loaded lengthwise. There's a LOT of overhang behind the drives. Phil D
It sounds as if that's what they may be alluding to, Dollytrolly. And if their theory is correct, clearly someone's truck wasn't wearing its Tractor Protection Valve.
RickW
Hey, my truck and Carl's truck were kept a safe distance from each other now. Plus I keep my truck close, my cold beer is kept in the truck fridge when parked.
