SWharton
On another forum we read about 5 Star Tune for the Ford F53(they have other tunes). We never read about a problem with it, only praise. Decided to go ahead and get it. It was an easy install, took less than an hour. Today was our first drive with it. Wow, what a difference in shifting patterns, especially in slowing down. Downshifts and up shifts at much better points. . 5 Star has group buys and sales several times a year. If you don't like your shifting pattern they will also custom make a shifting pattern. Highly recommend this product.
Kirk W
Banks has something similar, I believe. We had a Banks system on our early Ford V-10 and loved it, but I've not kept up with them recently. Good travelin !...............KirkFull-time 11+ years...... SWharton
Coming from the diesel side I thought Banks was only diesel. Never thought of them for gas. This setup is relatively inexpensive, $380 is what we paid.
evolvingpowercat
I have a 2015 VIN F53 chassis and the 5 Star Tune makes a big difference on the 5 speed transmission shifting. Before, it would often jump from 5th gear to 3rd gear when hitting a hill now it works like one would expect: 5 -> 4 and only goes to 3 if needed. Don't think I am going to see much of a change in fuel economy but it sure makes the Class A more enjoyable to drive.
