We drove this route today. Its a very good 2 lane highway. The climbs and descents are very mild. Most of the scenery is typical high plateau, however there are a good number of very interesting clusters of rock formations.

If you are looking for a short cut, traveling south from Moab, through Mexican Hat, on your way to Page, AZ, and want to cut 45-50 miles off your route, I highly recommend Arizona State Route 98.

On the subject of Medicine Hat, UT. There is a rock formation called "Entrenched Meanders" in Gooseneck State Park, at Mexican Hat. It is the only place in North America you will be able to see this type of formation. Gooseneck is a very small state park, but well worth the short stop.

Thanks for the information. I don't know why no one answered your question about the route. We haven't made Arizona yet in the motorhome, but this type of information is useful for those of us who aren't used to driving in mountaneous terrain.

There is a book titled "Mountain Directory - West, for Truckers, RV and Motorhome Drivers" It has a lot of great info on several of the more popular US and State Highways of the Western States. It is published by R&R Publishing, Inc. Its a pretty good reference guide.
