Mike2338
We will be traveling Route 66 from Illinois to Arizona next year. I am looking for a travel guide for the route with emphasis on making the trip in an RV. Campgrounds, locations to avoid etc. Any recommendations? Thanks Mike
trailertraveler
This website lists campgrounds along Route 66. This website gives some information about Route 66 in each state. The Ultimate Public Campground Project is a good resource for finding small town city parks and county parks that allow camping/RV overnights. This book gives descriptions of the route through each state. Hope this helps and you have a great trip!!
ccsimpson
Be sure and take the Route 66 section near Kingman, AZ, east for about 30 miles. Takes you to a small downtown with Rt. 66 gift shops and the burger place at the other end of town, looks like a hole on the wall but has the best hot dogs we have ever eaten and great milkshakes. The owner is a real cut-up and worth the stop just to joke with him. Carol
Bobi and Dick McKee
The joint in Kingman is Mr D's. It has the best home made root beer I've ever had.
