Barbaraok
Was just outside the rig at Timber Valley SKP Co-Op in Sutherlin taking pictures of the deer walking through the area. Had one stand in the street and look right at me. And we can see the hills tonight, so the smoke isn't as bad as it has been earlier this week. Area is so dry, as is all of the West Coast. They desperately need rain everywhere in the west. Barbaraok
Smoke was horrible coming through southern Oregon today. Medford looked like they had fog, but it was smoke. Couldn't see Mt. Shasta from the Oregon side - all of the mountains were shrouded in smoke and it smelled. Mt. Shasta is almost completely bare. A couple of old glaciers on the north side, but really looks strange to see that mountain with no snow on it. And Shasta Lake is so low it is pitiful. If anyone has rain they don't need send it to the west coast, they need it desperately. Rosita
If anyone has rain they don't need send it to the west coast, they need it desperately. --- Pretty much everything is bone dry, dead, or on fire. (Or, all of the above.) Maybe the rain will come later in the fall; one can always hope.
Jimalberta
Kirk we had 1/2 of Alberta and Saskatchewan on fire a few weeks ago....huge fires. However they are not the problem withsmoke here....we are getting this smoke from the fires in Idaho and Montana. It so smoky that it looks like dusk and our eyes are burning and the air smells like a campfire all the time. Sunsets are spectacular. <p>....JIM and LINDA......2001 American Eagle 40 '.towing a GMC Sierra 1500 4X4 with RZR in the rear. 1999 JEEP Cherokee that we tow as well. You had one half of two provinces on fire and it didn't make the U.S. news, yet we got multiple doses of the Donald getting his hair tested? Everybody wanna hear the truth, but everybody tell a lie. chirakawa
chirakawa Change the channel It's funny you say that. I was watching CBS and they were showing this nonsense. I changed to NBC and they were on commercial. When the commercial ended, the first story on NBC was the same hair testing scene. What channel did you see coverage of the fires in Canada? MadeItToFT
Always glad to read you on the boards Barb :) Initially us Calgarians were told the smoke was from the Washington fires and scale was 1 to 10 and we were at an 11 which makes a mockery of any scale don't ya think? Left for Lethbridge Thursday afternoon and smoke was less but seemed worse when hit Lethbridge. Left Lethbridge yesterday (Fri) around 5pm and seemed to be clearing somewhat, watched vehicles blown all over the Crowsnest Pass between Pincher Creek (Hwy 6 turnoff) and Lundbreck Falls = scary stuff. We came back to Pincher Creek to overnight on Hwy 6 and was great = no wind and visibility way better. Noon today (Sat) down at Waterton NP skies got smokier and the wind has been horrendous all day, had to pull slides in at Townsite CG, and we not staying another night after tonight due to poor visibility and the winds. Tomorrow west Glacier and fingers crossed the past 3 hours of rain has helped many and it continues to rain ALL night and the darn winds die down for all. FTW PS: Dry camping so far, solar system has been wonderful - alignment and new tires (missed two extender valves when changed tires for inside dualies!), and new alternator and belt in the 11th hour done Wed before we left. Hubby says she's driving so much different and feels good. Hopefully the almost $6,000 dropped into her the past month, plus solar $$$'s end of last year was worth it = thanks to all that guided us every step of the way here!
